Reactions "Before engaging" or "after engaging" are taken (immediately) before or after a battle begins.
Glossary, Engage: Refers to the time point when a Combat Segment begins. This is the same point of time that the battle begins.
Battles, B Combat Segment: Engaging is the time point at which the battle, and the Combat Segment, both begin.
