This is mostly for clarification since I saw two recent posts about Iron Will and Effortless Counterattack in regards to non-strategy cards.
1) If a non-strategy card (Ring) played from your hand or equip action is negated or canceled, the card is returned to it's owner's hand and no costs are payed?
Follow-Up: 1a) If an action from Ring of Fire is negated by Iron Will, and Ring of Fire is in play on the table, the Ring of Fire and the Personality Performing RoF's action are neither bowed or destroyed but Ring of Fire's action is used for the turn. 1b)If Negated by Effortless Couterattack, both the Ring of Fire is bowed and the Performing personality is destroyed. 1c)If a Dragon Player using Foothills keep trys to attach a Weapon from hand as an addition action (following up Yojimbo's Duty) and the opponent uses Effortless Counterattack: the equip action is canceled, the gold is not payed and the Weapon remains in the Dragon Player's hand. The weapon can still be payed for an equiped as a later battle action.
2) All Strategy Cards negated by Iron Will and Effortless Couterattack are immeadiately placed in the discard after being negated/canceled.
Relevant Cards: Iron Will - Reaction: After another player targets your Paragon with a Battle action performed by a Personality with lower Personal Honor: The action's costs are ignored and its effects are negated. That player may take an additional Battle action. Effortless Counterattack - Reaction: Before the resolution of a Battle action that was taken as an additional action: Negate its effects. Foothills Keep - Equipping Weapons is a Battle/Open action for you.
Thanks!

1. That statement is not correct as a blanket statement, it depends on the specific wording of the cards. If Iron Will is used on the Ring of Fire, it returns to your hand facedown, as Iron Will states that costs are ignored. However, Effortless Counterattack merely negates the effects, so the costs are still paid and the Ring of Fire is still discarded.
1a. Correct. 1b. Correct. 1c. Correct.
2. As a technical point, Strategy cards themselves are not negated, their effects are. A Strategy whose effects are negated by Iron Will or Effortless Counterattack is in the Resolution area while this is occurring, and will move to the discard pile after resolution is completed.

This is a follow up to Strategy Cards vs. Non-Strategy Cards and Negating
Effortless Counterattack vs. A Brave New World If A Brave New World was used as an extra action which is canceled by Effortless Counterattack, Brave New World is discarded but the cost of Brave New World (discarding a card) still happens? I.e. I target a Paragon with an action, Iron Will is used to cancel the action. Then I take an additional action (from Iron Will) to play A Brave New World and I discard a card to pay for A Brave New World, which my opponent used Effortless Counterattack to cancel the additional action. Brave New World and the discarded card go to my Fate Discard pile (and I cry some. Crying is optional).

Effortless Counterattack negates effects but, unlike Iron Will, does not ignore costs, so the discard required by Brave New World still happens.
