Ok, so here's the card in question:
Koji (EaW)
3F / 2C -HR / 3GC / 2PH Ronin * Samurai You may not assign this unit to, or move Koji to, a battlefield, unless there are at least 2 different Clan alignments among Personalities already in your army there or currently assigning there.
My question is this, if I bring Koji into play (playing out of a Lion stronghold) and my opponent is playing out of a Scorpion stronghold, if we both assign units of the respective clans to a battlefield (at least 1 Lion and 1 Scorpion) are conditions met to also assign Koji to that same battlefield? I'm specifically looking at the very last part of his text "or currently assigning there."

No, because Koji requires two units "in your army", not two at the battlefield, total.

Follow up to this.
What if there are allies involved? Aren't all units assigned to your side, in your army? Specifically, Scorpion and say Lion allied against Crane, and asign 1 unit a piece can Koji then assign?

"Yes" to the first question; "Maybe" to the second.
Allies do not assign simultaneously with the Attacker or Defender (http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Sequence_of_pla ... rs_Segment), so who controls Koji where the controller falls in the order of assignment matters.
