A couple of questions

Hello all. Some issues came up during a playtesting session that none of us could answer. Here are the questions:

Question 1) Isawa Takahiro Vs Consuming the Flesh.

Relevent text:

Takahiro: Battle: Bow one to three target enemy units with a combined Gold Cost less than or equal to Takahiro's unit's Gold Cost. Destroy any of those targeted units that have a total base Gold Cost of 0.

Consuming the Flesh: Reaction: After another player's action targets one of your Personalities in your current army, destroy the Personality and bow this Shugenja: The action's effects do not happen. Create a 2F/2C/0PH Shadowlands • Undead Personality at the current battlefield. Lose 3 Honor.

Question: Can Consuming the Flesh stop Takahiro's action from happening? As it targets 3 people, we were not sure as it was multiple targeting.

Question 2) Prayer for Guidance Vs Reinforce the Gates.

Relevent Text:

Prayer for Guidance: Battle/Open: Target your honorable Samurai: After the next time this turn he is destroyed or bowed by another player's action or by battle resolution, gain 3 Honor.

Reinforce the Gates: Battle: Even if you control no units at the current battlefield: Target an unopposed unit there. Move the unit to a battlefield with one or more units on the side opposing its controller's.

Question: I have played Prayer for Guidance on the lovely Utaku Kohana, and sent her to an unopposed battle. I resolved a battle where my opponent had 3 people defending and was unopposed, he passed I passed. We went to my battle and he reinforced my person into his already resolved battle. What happens? I know my person goes home bowed, but do I gain the 3 honor?

Question 3) Prayer for Guidance Vs Only Actions Speak.

Relevent Text:

Prayer for Guidance: Battle/Open: Target your honorable Samurai: After the next time this turn he is destroyed or bowed by another player's action or by battle resolution, gain 3 Honor.

Only Actions Speak: Reaction: After an action is announced: Negate all Honor gains until after the action's resolution. At that time if this negated any gains, negate all Honor gains until the end of this phase and draw a card.

Question: I play Ultimate Sacrifice to kill the person my opponent targeted with Prayer for Guidance. Can I also react while playing Ultimate Sacrifice with Only Actions Speak, negating the Honor gain? When exactly does the honor gain from Prayer for Guidance go off, after my action finishes or the moment he dies?

Question 4) Calm Before Death Vs Daidoji Sakihiko

Relevent Text:

Calm Before Death: Battle: Destroy your target unbowed Berserker or Deathseeker Personality: Reduce the Force of one or two target enemy Followers or Personalities without Followers by an amount equal to your Personality's Force. You may destroy one of those enemy cards whose Force is now 0. If your Personality is a Deathseeker, gain 3 Honor.

Daidoji Sakihiko: Recon Open: Target a province. Other players' Personalities have -1F while at that province's battlefield.

Question: If I'm at the province Sakihiko has targeted, when I destroy my Deathseeker for Calm before Death, is he still considered -1f for the effects of Calm before Death? If my Deathseeker was printed 4 Force, would he be 3F when reducing the Force of one or two target enemy followers of personalities without followers, or back to normal force?

Question 1) Can Consuming the Flesh stop Takahiro's action from happening?

Not the action itself but its effects, yes. You may use the Reaction on Consuming the Flesh even if the other player's action targets more than one of your Personalities in your current army.

No, because Kohana is not bowed by battle resolution. See Final Steps, Last battle cleanup.

The Honor gain happen after the Samurai is destroyed by Ultimate Sacrifice, during the resolution of this Battle action, so it would be negated by Only Actions Speak if it was played after Ultimate Sacrifice was announced.

Question 4) If I'm at the province Sakihiko has targeted, when I destroy my Deathseeker for Calm before Death, is he still considered -1f for the effects of Calm before Death? If my Deathseeker was printed 4 Force, would he be 3F when reducing the Force of one or two target enemy followers of personalities without followers, or back to normal force?

The amount of Force reduction is checked when it is applied, during the resolution of Calm before Death, after its cost of destroying your targeted unbowed Berserker or Deathseeker has been paid, so the dead performer is no longer at the battlefield of the province that Sakihiko's Recon action targeted. As a consequence, the Force penalty from that Recon action does not apply: in your example, the targeted cards suffer a -4F penalty.
