Diagotsu's battle ability on furumaro

L5R CCG Rules board, 28 July 2010

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Daigotsu's ability: Battle: Permanently give a target enemy personality with lower Chi Shadowlands. He succumbs to the Dark Lord's will. Take control of him (if you do so, he joins your army). If you now control him, destroy him after this battle ends.

Furumaro's reaction: Reaction: Before an action destroys Furumaro: Negate his destruction.

Say Daigotsu and Furumaro are both at a battlefield and Daigotsu targets Furumaro with his battle ability and takes control of Furumaro. Can the player who now controls Furumaro use his reaction "after this battle ends" to keep Furumaro alive and maintain control of him?
