A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Hello,

According to Haru's Trait, does he have 6 cards in his focus pool?

Mirumoto Haru: Haru may focus one additional card each time he focuses in a duel.

Thanks.

No, Haru's trait does not increase the size of the focus pool. In any duel involving Haru, his controller forms the focus pool normally: with the top three cards of his Fate deck. Then each time Haru focuses in that duel, one additional card may be focused from this focus pool (or once from the hand).

If I control Haru and my first action in the duel is to focus from my hand, am I able to focus an additional card from my focus pool?

Yes, the additional cards focused thanks to Haru's trait follow the normal rules for focusing (see Challenges and duels), except for their specific timing that is defined by this trait. As a consequence, once you have focused one card from your hand, you can focus only from your focus pool.
