At a Legacy tournament I played at recently, I was informed that Soften the Resistance does not work while unopposed as the enemy leader has to control units opposing yours in order to be, well, 'opposing'. My question is whether this means that Crushing Attack also does not work while unopposed as does an empty army count as an 'opposing army'?
Crushing Attack
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Glossary_A#Army: "A side with no units is not an army and has no Force total."
Crushing Attack won't work unless there's a unit there.
