A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Hi,
I just want some clarification since I see a lot of people doing this (which I think is wrong), but they're saying that they have some online reference for the ruling.
1) Player A declares an attack. No assignment on Province A, he assigns Uzaki no Oni on B. 2) Player A resolves Province A first, using Uzaki no Oni's ability to move him to the province.
Is this legal?
Thanks!
Uzaki no Oni Battle: Target another Nonhuman Personality. Straighten him or move him to the current battlefield.

No.
Uzaki no Oni's ability will never be legal if he is not at the current battlefield, due to the Rules of Location and Presence.

Regarding to this: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=83194
I believe the key here is the 'another' in his ability. If there was no restriction, I believe he would be able to move himself to the current battlefield even without anyone there, creating the needed presence after the movement.
Well, I'm just trying to help.
EDIT: Making myself clear. \o
