Player A plays Lion. He has an Akodo`s Guidance in play and is attacking with a 3PH personality (i.e. Ikoma Hagio). Thanks to the Guidance Hagio has 4PH while attacking.
Player B defends with Seppun Tashime exp. (4PH).
Can Player A discard the Guidance and destroy Ikoma Hagio to destroy Tashime? Or would the action fail, because the +1PH bonus is gone (Hagio is dead and no longer attacking), before Tashime would be destroyed?

Akodo`s Guidance Kami • Unique Attacking Lion Clan Personalities have +1F and +1PH. Battle: If you are a Lion Clan player, discard this card and destroy your target Lion Clan Personality: Destroy a target enemy Personality with equal or lower Personal Honor.

The targeting requirement ("enemy Personality with equal or lower Personal Honor") is checked before costs are paid, ie before Hagio is destroyed.
