A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
A player, 22 April 2010
Couldn't find a specific ruling on these two cards:
Hida War Drums Enters play paying 2 less Gold if you are a Crab Clan player. This Personality has Hero and his unit may not assign during the Cavalry Maneuvers Segment. Negate his movement home from cards' effects.
Alert the Guard: Heroic Open: Target your Hero Personality: He may assign even if bowed and, if you are the Defender, may assign during Cavalry Maneuvers. He and any Followers now attached to him contribute Force to their army's total Force even if bowed.
Does Alert the Guard allow a defensive personality equipped with Hida War Drums to assign during Cavalry Maneuvers? I ask because Alert the Guard seems distinct from other movement cards in that AtG says the target personality "may assign during Cavalry Maneuvers". It seems that AtG grants the specific ability that is taken away by Hida War Drums. Or does the negation effect of the War Drums supercede the assignment potential granted by AtG?

Under discussion.
