A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I am sorry, sensei. My SearchFu has failed me. I have searched through the forums, but I must not be using the correct search terms. Also, I thought the answer would be in this thread, but alas is it not: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=79420&hilit=isawa+vs.+isawa
And so, without further adieu:
A Walking Death Plague Until the game ends, after each of your Events Phases ends, each player, starting with you, gives a target Personality controlled by the player on his left a -1C Plague token.
Isawa Fosuta Exp. Maho Open: Bow Fosuta: Lose 6 Honor. While Fosuta remains bowed, you may negate his straightening and, at the start of each turn, you may target a Personality and give him a -1F/-1C Curse token. After the next time this game Fosuta straightens or leaves play, destroy all Curse tokens.
A Walking Death appears on my turn. He plays Isawa Fosuta Exp. on his turn. ...other stuff happens...a few turns go by... His Isawa Fosuta Exp. has four -1C Plague tokens on him from A Walking Death. During my Dynasty Phase I purchase Isawa Fosuta Exp. During the beginning of his turn he places a '-1/-1' Curse token on my Udo, killing him. During his Action Phase, my Isawa Fosuta Exp. bows. During the beginning of my turn...wait one cotton pickin' second...WHO GOES FIRST? Reading through Isawa Fosuta Exp's Maho Open it states, "...at the start of each turn, you may target a Personality and give him a -1F/-1C Curse token...". So, if both players have Isawa Fosuta Exp. out at the start of a turn, which Isawa Fosuta Exp. gets to put a Curse token out first?
We ruled that it would be the player who's turn it currently was, but I am not satisfied with this ruling (even though it swung in my favor, and I placed the -1/-1 Curse token on his Isawa Fosuta Exp. killing him via Chi death before he could place his Curse token anywhere). It almost reads like both -1/-1 Curse tokens will resolve simultaneously, but that doesn't satisfy me either (implied rather than explicit...I don't like implications).
I look forward to your reply. G6

http://rules.l5r.com/CE_Timing#Resolvin ... _conflicts: "If two or more reactions, triggered traits, or rules procedures are triggered at the same point in time, follow this sequence from A through C to decide their order.
"A. Apply any ongoing or continuous effects that negate, prevent, or substitute the occurrence that defines the trigger, making the occurrence not happen in the first place." Does not apply.
"B. Anything that is triggered at this point but is not a Reaction happens now. This includes triggered traits, delayed effects, indefinite conditional effects, triggered rulebook effects (such as losing Honor after a dishonourable Personality is destroyed). If more than one of these things conflict, the active player decides the order in which they happen." (Emphasis added).

As Zen underlined above, the active player chooses the order in which Fosutas' effects happen, but both of them do happen anyway.
Assuming each Fosuta has 4 Curse or Plague tokens when the turn starts and the active player applies his own Fosuta's effect first, the Curse token destroys the second Fosuta. After he leaves play, his delayed effect triggers and destroys all Curse tokens, including those on the active player's Fosuta, who then receives a new Curse token from the dead Fosuta's effect (his death does not prevent this effect from being applied because it has already triggered).
