Shikibu no Oni Exp vs chi death

L5R CCG Rules board, 10 September 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

If Shikibu no Oni ever has 0 chi, does he continuously negate his destruction (thus making him unkillable by chi death)?

If Isawa Fosuta xp gives him four -1 force/-1 chi Curse tokens, does Shikibu have to remove someone from the game to Jigoku?

If an action (such as wounded in battle or Touch of the Infinite) was played, does Shikibu's trait require him to remove someone from the game to Jigoku?

No, his trait fails to save it: the Onilord is destroyed, because its trait's negation effect is not continuous (see below, emphasis added).

Negating conditional ongoing occurrences: "EXCEPTION: Special rules apply to the prevention of Personality destruction from zero Chi (see Chi death rule) and other continuously applied destruction effects. Ongoing and instantaneous effects that prevent destruction, such as the trait "Before this card is destroyed: Negate the destruction," will not prevent destruction from such an effect. Only a continuous prevention effect (for example, "This Personality will not be destroyed" as a trait), or an effect that specifically refers to the zero Chi rule (for example, "Until the end of the turn, he will not be destroyed for having 0 Chi") can overcome the Personality's destruction. If this happens, the destruction merely fails to happen while the prevention is in effect; there is no continuous "loop" of destruction and prevention that can trigger other effects."

No, because Shikibu is destroyed.

No, because Shikibu is destroyed.
