created card default duration

L5R CCG Rules board, 10 September 2009

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I seem to remember that all abilities' effects are "until the end of the turn" by default. What does that mean for, for instance, that kiho from IG1 that creates a 2/2 zombie? Is the personality discarded at the end of the turn, or does it stay? If an ability creates a token (ex: a -1C poison token), does it disappear at the end of the turn or not?

Thanks.

"until the end of the turn" is the default duration of ongoing effects. Instantaneous effects and continuous effects have no duration. For example, if you play an action whose effect bows a card, the card does not automatically straighten when the turn ends; bowing is an instantaneous effect.

Creating a card or a token is also an instantaneous effect so neither the card nor the token are removed from the game when the turn ends.

Ongoing effects: "Ongoing effects last until the end of the turn in which they were applied unless otherwise indicated."
