A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Hi,

Shosuro Jimen (Exp) Scorpion Clan • Poison Master • Courtier • Emerald Champion • Imperial • Magistrate • Duelist • Experienced • Unique Political Battle : Dishonor a target enemy Personality. Negate all rehonoring until this battle ends.

Does Shosuro Jimen (Experienced) negate Seppuku or the effect of Seppuku being restored to honorable status only during in a battle?

Thanks!

Seppuku: An act of ritual suicide. If an effect directs a Personality to commit seppuku, apply the following effects: “Rehonor the Personality, then destroy him; these effects can not be negated.”

The effects "rehonour" and "destroy" are separate, so the destruction of the personality is not dependent on any rehonouring. However, note the emphasised text: Jimen would negate the rehonouring from seppuku, but seppuku negates that negation, so the Personality dies honoured. If Determination were used with Jimen's ability, Determination would negate the negation of the negation, and the Personality would die dishonoured.
