Searching for Legacy knowing there's not one left?

L5R CCG Rules board, 23 June 2008 to 24 June 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Okay, did three different advanced searches and didn't find this with any combination of keywords, apologies if it's been answered:

I use Exchange of Resources, or some other action for that matter, to put a bunch of personalities on the bottom of my deck. At the end of my turn in which I did not pay for a holding can I bow my stronghold and search for a Legacy Holding fully knowing that I do not have one left in my deck just to get the shuffle effect after failing to find one? My mates and I are torn on this one as it seems legal, but at the same time seems to go against the good faith rule.

Dealt with here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=66236. (Found by searching for the combination of "Legacy" and "search", incidentally.)

Legal but poor form.
