Redeployment

L5R CCG Rules board, 23 June 2008 to 25 June 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Redeployment Reaction: After Cavalry Maneuvers, target one of your unbowed Scouts: Target a number of your unbowed Personalities less than or equal to your Scout's Chi. Assign them to a battlefield where there is an enemy army.

Can I use Redeployment to target and (re-)assign my Personalities that are already assigned to battlefields? I wonder because you are normally only allowed to assign Personalities from your home.

Rules Wiki "Assign": To change the location of one or more units from home to a battlefield.

No, since assignment must start at home (http://rules.l5r.com/Glossary_A#Assign).

Doesnt the card title insinuate that you are ... redeploying troops from one battlefield to another? Otherwise wouldnt this card just be called Deployment? (Sorry, I am new to the game, but this seems like a strange ruling given the card title). I would have replied to the thread, but alas could not~

Card titles and art do not always jive with card text, alas. The card text and the current rules are far and away the biggest things we look at. The "flavour" of the card is -- at best -- a very minor consideration when making rulings.

That's deliberate. It cuts down on random people offering opinions (often incorrect) on how something should work, which can be highly confusing to people looking through the forum.
