Ruined City one more time

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 February 2008 to 25 February 2008

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I've read the this topic, viewtopic.php?=59&t=822679, and the ones referenced in it and the Wiki and I still have a question. There seems to be some indication that bowed personalities don't count when checking for lowest force.

Or, to be a bit more specific. I, playing The Ruined City, attack a Lion player with Diagotsu Bob, 5F and Diagotsu Bill, also 5F. He defends with Akodo Joe, 4F and Akodo Jane, 3F.

As my first action, Bob uses the Ruined City battle action to bow Jane. For my next action, can Bill use the Ruined City action to bow Joe?

The Ruined City Your Spider Clan Personalities have the ability, "Battle: Bow a target unit with zero total Force or with the lowest non-zero total Force (including ties) among all units at the current battlefield."

There seems to be some indication that bowed personalities don't count when checking for lowest force.

It's not an indication, it's a statement.

http://rules.l5r.com/Rulings_T#The_Ruined_City: "Granted ability may be used to bow a unit with force greater than zero if all the other units are bowed or zero force."
