Hashi no Oni
Shadowlands • Oni • Singular • Lose 3 Honor. After engaging in a battle at this province: Destroy one of your Personalities or Followers at the current battlefield. The Attacker targets and destroys a Personality or Follower in his current army.
If I'm the owner of the region, and my opponent attacks this province. I don't assign anyone to defend... Does he have to destroy a personality or follower in his army? Or he doesn't destroy anyone because I haven't destroyed one of mine?
Thanks,
Javier

There are two separate effects. Even if you have nobody to destroy, the attacker must still destroy a personality or follower.
