Alright - I got a demo of this game, and I fell in love with it. After 12 years of Magic, I am happy to make the switch.
That being said, the rules in this game are much deeper then magic, and I have a question or two...
1. When is a challenge initiated? Are there cards that issue a challenge, or is it something that you can do as an action, etc...?
2. Seppuku. What is it? How does it work? I only know that it involves dishonored personalities...
3. Limited vs Open actions. Can you explain the difference?
Thanks!

When is a challenge initiated?
When a card says so.
Seppuku. What is it? How does it work?
Comprehensive rules, Glossary, Seppuku: "An act of ritual suicide. If an effect directs a Personality to commit seppuku, apply the following effects: 'Rehonor the Personality, then destroy him; these effects can not be negated.'
"Additionally, all players have the following ability.
"Reaction: Any number of times per turn, before you lose Honor from an action that targeted or was performed by one of your Courtier or Samurai Personalities: He commits seppuku. Reduce the Honor loss to one."
I only know that it involves dishonored personalities...
Not really. It has more to do with Honor loss. It does rehonor Personalities, but seppuku is legal whether the Personality is dishonored or not.
Limited vs Open actions. Can you explain the difference?
L5R is a game where players take turns. During a player's turn, the player whose turn it is can take Limited and Open actions in the action phase. Other players can only take Open actions in the action phase.
And welcome aboard.
