The Spider Clan and Honor Loss

L5R CCG Rules board, 12 June 2007

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

My friend and I are not sure if The Spider's Lair stronghold's trait (You do not lose Honor from Fate and Spider Clan cards you own.) makes it so that they are immune to any sort of honor loss that even remotely involves their Spider Clan Personalities. For example, what happens if they kill one of my Personalities and I (assuming I have a Courtier) play Assigning Blame. I understand that it should still dishonor them, but do they lose the 3 Honor? The same question goes for cards like Coward!, Summoned to Justice, and Tales of Battle, all of which involve an honor loss that can be traced back to involving a Spider Clan Personality.

No, it does not.

Rules Archive, Effects: "The source of an effect is generally where the effect is physically written in ink. Exceptions include cards or strongholds that grant actions to other cards (e.g., the ability of a Personality controlled by a Yogo Towers player belongs to the Personality)."

It only negates the honor loss if the honor loss is printed on a Spider Clan card.
