Can the reaction (on Daidoji Armor) be used in a battle in which you have no units?
Yes.
Would the definition of Army, from the rulebook, stop the Daidoji Armor personality from moving into the battle? Is the rulebook definition wrong? Is there some other rule I am missing here?
Precedent (Yobanjin Fortress) is that something joining an army can join an empty army.
I really don't think this is the real point. Is it true that: The focus of Daidoji armor is "army force total" which always exists with or without an army?
Is it true that he shouldn't be concerned about needing an army for it to work? Last time I checked, Daidoji Armor has no reference to armies. It has reference to army force totals which is defined in the rulebook (page 100) as:
For an army: The sum of the Force totals for its units.
So even if I have no army, I will always have an army force total as defined and described on DE rulebook pages 82-84.
Otherwise no one could ever destroy my provinces.
Right?
