Another Suitengu's Surge Question

L5R CCG Rules board, 21 February 2005 to 22 February 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

The way I understand it, Suitengu's Surge works the following ways:

1.) When I Show of Good Faith someone's personality, I can target them with an action and Surge them out to make them return to play under my control permanently.

2.) For purposes of Suitengu's Surge actually reacting for situation 1, can I use the personality I just took control of to take the favor consequently targeting according to the Diamond rulebook? If so what happens to may lobby attempt? I was told that I could continue to resolve the action by picking a new target.

3.) What happens when I Surge out a personality with the Imperial Standard attached?(I know this came up in a thread recently, but there was only speculation as opposed to any actual ruling.).Do I just bring the personality back into play? Do I gain 4 honor if I discard the favor again? Do I even have to discard the favor to acctually gain the honor?

I know that most of this has been discussed allready, but I was hoping for some clarifications or possibly some official rulings. Thanks.

Don't understand. Your Personality now, no special rules for lobbying.

If so what happens to may lobby attempt? I was told that I could continue to resolve the action by picking a new target.

Again, not sure what you're asking. I think you're asking "What happens if the target for a lobby attempt is removed?" -- same as anytime a Reaction messes with an effect (Diamond rules, pg. 75). You have announced a target, but can't pay costs.

What happens when I Surge out a personality with the Imperial Standard attached?(I know this came up in a thread recently, but there was only speculation as opposed to any actual ruling.).

Untrue. I answered it. Standard comes back and gives you honor.

Zen this implies to gaining after discarding the favor right? so if you don't discard the favor, then you'll lose the standard to surge right?

You actually didn't read my earlier post, did you?

No. Surge says the unit returns with all attached cards.
