Some rules questions

L5R CCG Rules board, 7 February 2005

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Mi first question: I have a lone Ryouko defending a province and a Hida Rikyu opposing him (his controller uses Tenshu Sensei). I sacrifice Ryouko to play a To do what we must (2F + 3PH). Will Rikiu keep the force bonus from the sensei, making him 7F and keeping himself safe from destruction or will lose the bonus, since he is now unopposed, leaving him in 5F and therefore be destroyed due my action?

Mi second question: When a terrain, I.E. Murder in the streets or Encircled Terrain, say I must target one of my personalities, can I use Flee the darkness or Balance in Nothinguess to cancel the terrain action?

Sorry for my bad english, and thanks in advance.

The answer to the second is yes, as far as BiN is concerned. I do not know if flee is worded differantly.

OK, found Marty answer on the first one:

"The Targeting Step comes before the Pay Costs Step, so

the choice has to be legal BEFORE you blow up your

Personality."
