question about Traits
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from the Wayback Machine (its copy), so posts it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
the rulebook and the accumulated rulings.
I would say to check the accumulate ruling archive. I have the exact wording for the loyal trait
"Loyal: When a personality has the loyal trait, he or she will not join you unless he or she is aligned with your faction. You cannot overlay a loyal personality over another if you are not playing a faction that the loyal personality is aligned with."
