Look into the Soul vs An Honored Guest

L5R CCG Rules board, 24 July 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I control a Shugenja with Look into the Soul attached. Can I then Proclaim a Courtier without my Clan Alignment using An Honored Guest?

Look into the Soul Kharmic You may not Proclaim Courtiers. Air Interrupt, [BOW]: Reduce each Honor gain from the action (to a minimum of 0) by half this Shugenja's Chi, rounded down.

An Honored Guest Kharmic Interrupt: Permanently give +1PH to a target Personality the action is Recruiting. You may Proclaim him even if he does not have your Clan Alignment.

An Honored Guest gives you a limited permission that modifies Proclaim's normal restriction on the Personality needing to be a member of your Clan. It will not overcome a more blanket prohibition such as Look Into the Soul's.
