Lane of Immorality

L5R CCG Rules board, 15 May 2015 to 26 May 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

I have 5 Family Honor. Is it legal to recruit a personality with honor requirement of 5 if i bow Lane of Immorality to pay the gold cost?

No.

The legality of the target is checked during the Recruit action's resolution, which is after you have lost the honour.

From here viewtopic.php?f=59&t=113785 It says you wont be able to recruit a personality if you lose honor from lane of immorality if you go down the honor requirement

and here viewtopic.php?f=59&t=98050&p=1293871&hilit=temple+fortress#p1293871 It says you wont be able to recruit a personality even though you would gain from the temple fortress.

Is there a conflict in these rulings?

The older ruling is now incorrect, as the rules have changed since it was made.

Bowing the Temple Fortress (or Lane of Immorality) to produce gold, and gain (or lose) honour now happens before you choose the Personality to be Recruited.
