Question about Agasha Kyokuta

L5R CCG Rules board, 15 May 2015

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Welcome!

I need clarification about rules of combining ranged attacks*:

Can i combine Kyokuta ability with other ranged attacks, for example fueling the flames? If i use his ability when combining ranged attack, is he gaining force bonus coming from his ability?

My understanding of this rule* is as following: I create ranged attack from fueling the flames, then i interrupt this action with kyokuta ability, paying the cost, gain force and add ranged attack from his ability to total ranged attack created by cards in his unit.

Agasha Kyokuta text::

"Fire Void Battle: Discard a card with an element keyword to give Kyokuta a Force bonus equal to the card's Focus Value. You may make a Ranged Attack with strength equal to that Focus Value."

You may combine Kyokuta's action with other Ranged Attack actions, either as the Battle action or an Interrupt; if you use his action as an Interrupt, he still gains the force bonus.
