Bayushi Atsuto and conditional Resilient

L5R CCG Rules board, 31 July 2014 to 4 August 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 31 July 2014

Bayushi Atsuto (just previewed here: http://dojooflies.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2049) has this text:

"Atsuto has Resilient while opposing a dishonorable personality." I have some questions about how this works out in terms of the timing of rehonoring and the timing of when Resilient applies, and I couldn't quite sort them out on my own using the Comprehensive Rules. Effectively: when does rehonoring in battle resolution occur in relation to when cards are destroyed in battle resolution? See also a couple of scenarios below.

1. Suppose Atsuto is alone at a battle and has no attachments. He is opposed by a dishonorable personality and the player controlling the dishonorable personality wins the battle. Atsuto would normally be destroyed and the opposing personality would normally rehonor. What happens? (I think that what happens is Atsuto is not destroyed and the dishonorable personality does not rehonor.)

2. Suppose Atsuto is at a battle with Shosuro Kayo (for example) and he is opposed by a dishonorable personality. The player controlling the dishonorable personality wins the battle and would normally destroy both Atsuto and Kayo. What happens? (I think that what happens is Atsuto is not destroyed but the dishonorable personality rehonors from destroying Kayo.)

Thank you!

You think right in both cases.
