A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

As a Focus Effect, you may choose to lose this duel to negate its consequences for losing. Invest (2): Resolve this action a second time. Political Open: Rehonor your target Personality. Open, (2): Put a target attachment in your discard pile into your hand.
If I play Spirited Dispute to return attachments to my hand and want to use the invest effect, do I need to pay 4 gold or 6 gold?
Is it
i. Pay 2 gold for the action --> pay 2 gold for the invest --> pay 2 gold for the action again --> collect items.
or
ii. Pay 2 gold for the action --> pay 2 gold for the invest --> collect items.
Does the text that says 'resolve this action' a second time mean 'go through the entire action resolution process a second time' (i.e. announce, pay, interrupt, target, resolve) or 'resolve the action's effects a second time'?
Thanks!

When you are addressing this, if the answer is " 'go through the entire action resolution process a second time' (i.e. announce, pay, interrupt, target, resolve) ", do I have the opportunity to use the other action on the card as well, so that for a total of 4G I could both rehonor a personality and retrieve an item?

Under Discussion. I am seeking additional clarification with the Design and Playtest Teams.

The previous ruling and announcement still leaves me with one question. Can I rehonor 1 person and retrieve 1 item from the discard (paying 2 gold)?

Spirited Dispute's Invest says, "Resolve this action's targeting and effects a second time."
So, if you pay the Invest cost, the first ability reads, Political Open, (2): Rehonor your target Personality. Then do that again with another target.
and the second reads: Open, (4): Put a target attachment in your discard pile into your hand. Then do that again with another target.
