Seeking the way + Shadowed estate of the scorpion

L5R CCG Rules board, 30 March 2014 to 31 March 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So this ruling confuses me.

in this thread, I'm translating it as you can use seeking the way to use up the shadow estate's effect on the card by using Seeking the way on a bowed shugenja.

I mean doesn't it come down to timing, Seeking the way is announced, the costs can't be met it fails, because shadowed estate negates the effects there's no effects to negate because the actions already failed therefore meaning that the shadowed estate is still going to negate the effects of the next Seeking the way? viewtopic.php?f=59&t=106730 this thread suggests it shadowed estates trigger doesn't get triggered if the actions already negated.

You're misreading the second thread. Blind cards rule allows you to use a card even knowing that the effects (note that the key word here is effect) will fail. So yes, you may use a Seeking the Way even knowing it is going to fail entirely because your shugenja is bowed.

The other ruling is about using twice the Shadowed Estate naming the same title. In that case, both uses of the SH will activate simultaneously because of the card's wording, making the play useless. That has nothing to do with the other issue.
