Absolution + End To Hostilities

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 March 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

So, this is a rather strange consequence of Ivory rules if I'm understanding correctly:

Absolution: "Interrupt: Negate an Event's effects."

An End to Hostilities: "Limited: Until the game ends, each player draws two cards instead of one at the end of his turn if he put no other cards in his hand that turn."

Since An End to Hostilities does not go in to play w/ a trait, it instead has an ongoing effect. So, if an An End to Hostilities has been used, can I later interrupt *any* action with Absolution, and negate the ongoing effects of an An End to Hostilities? I can't see why not, but it also seems rather strange to have to interrupt an unrelated action.

Because the wording of Interrupts refers to the action which is going to resolve, and only that one. If you Interrupt with Absolution a non-Event action, it fizzles. It doesn't matter whether there are ongoing effects from an Event that resolved previously, no other action's effect can be affected by the Interrupt, only the one about to resolve.
