Re: Tactical Advantage + The Asahina's Shame

L5R CCG Rules board, 29 March 2014

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

What's the point of saying that: "This ability cannot be removed or copied from the Tactician Personality." if it's not "on" them. How could you remove it from them in the first place then? Also, if it's on the rulebook, doesn't that mean that it can't be used more than once per turn?

Also, does the thing with The Asahina's Shame then follow to ALL granted abilities? For example, Merihiko grants all Nonhuman spirits the ability "Ranged 3 attack." It's on her, but it's granted to other cards. So, she wouldn't be able to use it (for example, if she somehow became a Nonhuman Spirit) but all other Nonhuman Spirits could?

Exactly, that's the point. The phrase you quote is just stating it explicitly so that people don't miss the implication.

The ability is on the rulebook, but all Tactician Personalities have it, individually. Each and every Personality has one copy of the ability, it's just not "on" them.

Tactical Advntage is NOT a granted ability, therefore it doesn't follow

For example, Merihiko grants all Nonhuman spirits the ability "Ranged 3 attack." It's on her, but it's granted to other cards.

What Merihiko are you referring to? Please use complete card titles and experience levels. I'm assuming you mean Kitsune Merihiko XP. In that case, you are wrong. The ability is never on her, she just grants it to other cards as part of her trait's effects.

So, she wouldn't be able to use it (for example, if she somehow became a Nonhuman Spirit) but all other Nonhuman Spirits could?

No. If she somehow gained the keywords, she would immediately gain the ability (auto-granting it herself)
