A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

"But, because the targeting itself is also wrapped up in the effect that you need to bow to do, it means you can't meet the required targeting if you can't bow the Shugenja to do it"
So, lets say I have 3 shugenjas out, each with a Seeking the Way attached. My opponent uses the Shadowed Estate of the Scorpion to name Seeking the Way. From what I understand from previous rulings, I am now unable to even ANNOUNCE the action on seeking the way, because I know the effect will be negated, which will prevent my shugenja from bowing, which will prevent me from targeting, which violates the good faith rule (effectively creating a situation where the Shadowed Estate of the Scorpion has prevented me from using any of the copies of Seeking of the Way, even to "use up" the negation). Is that correct?
I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here. This rule has become very convoluted. I've been playing this game for 15 years now, and I am - for the first time since learning to play - unsure of how one of the fundamental rules of the game works (good faith).

Under discussion.

The referenced ruling has been reversed, so Good Faith will no longer stop Seeking the Way via the Scorpion Stronghold in the manner you described.
