Based on the Good Faith rule posted here.
Say I have my stronghold unbowed but don't control the Favor. I'm assuming that I can annouce Imperial Summons because I could bow my stronghold to play it. But could I choose to discard the favor (that I don't have) instead even though I could bow my stronghold?
Say I have the favor and my stronghold is bowed And/or I don't control the Favor. Could I choose to bow my stronghold and have the action fail since I don't actually target my stronghold?
Edit: I guess this is similar to the Seeking the way ruling but I still don't understand it.
Also from the advance rule book page 49:
Some cards describe an effect happening “to” do something else (for example, “Discard a card to gain 1 Honor.”) If the first effect fails (for example, discarding a card with no cards in hand), the second thing (gaining Honor) does not happen.
This makes me believe that I could do the above and that seeking the way works as well.
