If my opponent attempts to move Daidoji Gensai into an army opposing me and that movement is negated, is Gensai still allowed to use the Ranged Attack portion of his action?
Daidoji Gensai
A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.
The card text states it clearly: Home Battle: If Gensai would be opposed, move him to the current battlefield. After he moves, you may discard a card to make a Ranged Attack with strength equal to the card's Focus Value.
The Ranged Effect is triggered by the Personality actually moving. If the movement doesn't happen, the effect isn't triggered.
