The Shadow Court: only Performing Courtier, not any Courtier

L5R CCG Rules board, 5 February 2013

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Edit: I have been instructed in the correct reading of the card. Thanks very much to Palmer for his speedy assistance!

A question recently arose about The Shadow Court which, though rendered moot for that game thanks to multiple send-home actions, will come up again. My search-fu h has failed me, and so I turn to this forum for help.

The Shadow Court's text is as follows:

Battle: Choose your performing defending Courtier and target an enemy Personality: Bow him. After the next time this turn another player's action or a battle resolution destroys your Courtier, draw a card, and choose a player, who gains or loses 2 Honor.

My understanding of "Your" is that (from Glossary):

"When “your” and other possessive forms such as “the player’s” or “his” refer to a card, this means “controlled by that player" if the card is in play, or "owned by that player" if the card is not in play.

My reading of The Shadow Court, then, would be that ongoing effect "After the next time this turn another player's action or a battle resolution destroys your Courtier..." would require my opponent to draw a card and choose a player to gain or lose honour after then next time this turn any of her Courtiers were destroyed, rather than the next time this turn the performing defending Courtier was destroyed.

Is this correct, or have I become horribly muddled?

Thanks!

Actually, in this case "your" is necessitated by having another Personality (the enemy Personality) referred to after the performing Courtier is chosen, but before the effect hits the Courtier. In this case The Shadow Court only works when the performing Courtier is destroyed.
