Imperial protection

L5R CCG Rules board, 2 December 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

A player, 2 December 2012

While playing against an scorpion player, he played the imperial protection card and when he explained me the effects I was shocked of how good it was (considering he dishonored most of my personalities), so some questions has raised to me about the card:

The first one is: I have 4 personalities dishonored (and more honorable pers), then I decide to split them in 2 provinces: 2 and 2, my question is: all their provinces have a +8 bonus? Or those 2 provinces have a +4 bonus because there is 2 dishonorable personalities attacking it?

My second question is: what happens if he sends dishonorable personalities home? Does the province/s decrease their strenght by 2 for each personality he ejects?

Imperial protection text: Open: Each of your provinces has +2 strength for each dishonorable Personality attacking it.

Thank you in advance

1. "Attacking it" is the key phrase here. If you have two people at each of two provinces, the provinces will only gain +4 each.

2. Imperial Protection's bonus is continually recalculated based on game-state. Therefore, if your Personalities are sent home, they will no longer give the +2. By the same token, if another Personality of yours is dishonored during the battle, it will then begin to give a +2.
