Wyrmbone Katana and Aramasu's Vigilance

L5R CCG Rules board, 23 October 2012 to 24 October 2012

A topic from AEG's L5R CCG Rules forum, copied for Oracle of the Void from a copy of the forum saved in October 2015, so pages it didn't save are missing. Players' names are left out; the rules officials are named. Rulings are as they stood on these dates; later rulings, the rulebooks and the Rules Archive may differ.

Relevant Text:

Wyrmbone Katana: Battle: Target an enemy card with lower Force than this Personality and no attachments: Destroy it. Battle: Move this Personality to the current battlefield if he assigned there.

Aramasu's Vigilance Limited: Create an additional Attack Phase, during which battle resolution does not destroy defending armies or provinces and does not bow your Mantis Clan Magistrates or your attachments. After it ends, if you won any of its battles (even against no units at resolution), you may target a Personality or Holding, bow it, and negate its straightening until after your next Straighten Phase ends.

The Question. If multiple battles take place at the same province at different times during a given turn is it considered to be a new Battlefield each battle? Here's an example: Lets say I have Wyrmbone Katana on a Naval Personality and Sound the Retreat in play. They defend with two guys, and I naval kill 1 with the Katana. Say the defender bows the unit somehow, forcing me to flee with Sound the Retreat. Then during the actual attack phase I assign to a different province than I assigned during the Raid Battle. They defend against me. I resolve the battlefield at the province that I attacked during the Raid battle first. Can I just move to that battlefield from Wyrmbone Katana?

The Question. If multiple battles take place at the same province at different times during a given turn is it considered to be a new Battlefield?

Each different Attack Phase creates its own battlefields at its beginning and removes them at its end. Though they may be at the same provinces, each battlefield is a new, unique entity when created.
