Combining fear effects: Zlkyt's Family and Oni Familiar have better than average fear effects. If I combine these with another regular fear effect, what is happening? Eg: I combine Oni Familiar fear 2 with fear 1 from Staff of the Raja's Court. Then can it destroy a 3F follower? And if I combine Fear 4 from Zlkyt with same Fear 1 from staff, can it bow a 5F personality with followers attached? OK I know staff is a bad example because it also can give -1F as an engage but please ignore this for the purposes of this question.
A regular Fear cannot bypass followers to target a Personality, so it cannot be combined with one that can to target a Personality. As for additional effects from a Fear such as destruction, I don't know but I'd say the same
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 3 July 2024 13:56
The 20F Rules are actually extremely unclear on the matter, but I have Ruled that combined RAs, MAs, and FEs with unusual substituted or additional effects have all effects carried over.
I will also reiterate for clarity that "effects" does not include special targeting allowances or restrictions. Each combined attack must be able to legally target the original target if taken separately, or they may not be combined.
A player, 3 July 2024 14:44
In other words, "destroy target" type stuff does combine, "may target items" or "may target Personality with followers" does not
so i was wrong here, as Kempy posted my question from 10 years ago "only same-zees can combine"
A player, 3 July 2024 21:11
Great, thanks everyone. This is very clear now.

Question. What happens in a duel started by show me your stance against a dishonored personality. The rulebook says they have a maximum personal honor if 0 and focusing (I thought) adds to the stat used in the duel
They would start with a duel stat of 0, and any FV’a would add to that
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 5 July 2024 22:39 · in reply
Depends on what Rulebook you're talking about, too. It used to be that Focusing were direct, temporary bonuses to the Stat itself, so a dishonorable Personality could never get above 0 in a duel of Personal Honor. I don't remember exactly when that changed, but now in current Rules, and Legacy/Open formats (and I think for the majority of the game anyway), Focuses in dueling are instead just added to the duel stat and the total number determines the winner, but they aren't direct stat bonuses anymore.
A player, 5 July 2024 22:47
Ok. That answers the question. Back in gold (when I did most of my play it added to the stat)
A player, 6 July 2024 00:30
Is bowing a holding to produce gold an action so it can be blocked by the shadowed estate of the scorpion?
A player, 6 July 2024 00:32
Which format are you asking for?
A player, 6 July 2024 00:32
Ivory/20f
A player, 6 July 2024 00:33
I do not believe it is, but I defer to the rules experts.
My reference would be that actions are bold word printed on cards, and in 20f gold was not
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 6 July 2024 00:34
In almost no Format is it the case. Only if what is producing the Gold is preceded by an action designator (Limited/Open/Battle/Interrupt/Response) would it be an action.
A player, 6 July 2024 00:35
For clarity, then, it could shut off "Tireless response: produce 1 gold" but not "bow: produce 2 gold" ?
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 6 July 2024 00:35 · in reply
Right. The bow icon is not an action designator.

Hello everyone. I have a few questions regarding oblivious scout. can you use Rout to target a unit equipped with oblivious scout? Does targeting a unit counts as targeting a follower? What does it mean by ‘The enemy leader targets this follower with a battle action’? Is the enemy leader the opposing player or is it the opposing personality?
Thanks!
A player, 8 July 2024 09:05
Targeting a unit usually counts as targeting the Personality, not the other cards in the unit.
And I want to say but don't know that the enemy leader is the player who is either declaring the attack, or declared as defender (meaning in multiplayer, allied units wouldn't be affected by the Scout). I may be wrong on that point though
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 8 July 2024 09:20 · in reply
The Shattered Empire printing of Rout doesn't target a unit. It explicitly targets the Personality only. Because, as Marcus said, those were equivalent.
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 8 July 2024 09:28
Marcus is also correct on the "leader" point.
A player, 8 July 2024 09:31
Didn't see the card, just answered based on previous questions regarding cards like Meditating Mind which does target the unit, then bows its attachments (which also applies to the Obliv Scout: even though the card affects the Scout, it targets the Personality, not the Follower)
A player, 8 July 2024 09:34
my apologies. I was looking at an older copy of the card. Thank you everyone!
A player, 8 July 2024 20:39
I used to know the answer to this, but it's long gone from my mind. Can you give a keyword to a card that already has it? For example, if a strategy has "target a personality and give it Shadowlands" can that target a personality that already has Shadowlands?
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 20:58
yes
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 20:58
same way you may use a card with straightening effect on unbowed card
A player, 8 July 2024 20:58
or a dishonoring effect on a dishonored card?
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 20:59
but we are talking about effects. if there's a conditional cost that requires change of the game state, you cant
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 21:00 · in reply
if theres effect xxx: dishonor target personality -yes you may use it.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 21:00
you can't use an effect or cost that says "dishonor target personality to do something" and target dishonored guy
A player, 8 July 2024 21:02
So, Arrivan of the Obsidian Champ. "Open: Target your Personality with a Gold Cost of 9 or higher: Lose 3 Honor. Dishonor him. Permanently set his Force to 10 and his Chi to 2. Permanently give him Shadowlands and the ability, "Fear Battle: Target a unit: Bow each Follower in it with 4 or lower Force."
You can't select a dishonored Personality to become the champ, but you can select an-already Shadowlands Personality?
A player, 8 July 2024 21:03
Or, wait, the stuff after the second ":", starting with "Lose 3 Honor," if I am reading / remembering correctly are effects, so you can pick an already dishonored dude.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 21:06
You may use it on dishonored guy as dishonoring is one of non-conditional effects of this action.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 8 July 2024 21:07
if it would be worded "Dishonor him to permanently set his Force to 10 and his Chi to 2" - then you couldnt
Similar logic, "Give him Shadowlands to do something awful" couldn't be used on a dude who already is Shadowlands.
A player, 8 July 2024 21:15
NGL, we need a card that says that. “Give him Shadowlands to destroy X. He does something awful.”
A player, 8 July 2024 21:15

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 8 July 2024 21:28
It would probably be good/consistent if Modern adopted OBH's "to" clause. I think they copied theirs from AEG Legacy, which also didn't have it and I kind of regret not adding it. Ivory was a weird time, and the game was sold before we even wrapped our heads around all the changes.

Can someone please explain ‘The Line must be drawn here’. Since it’s a tactical interrupt, is it only useable by tacticians?
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 9 July 2024 10:45 · in reply
From the Onyx Rules Datasheet supplement, the definition of "Tactical": "Each Tactician may use one Tactical ability per turn. You must target your unbowed Tactician to use a Tactical ability not printed on their card." So, the implicit required targeting of any Tactical ability not on a Tactician is an unbowed Tactician who has not used a Tactical ability already that turn.

saaam (not official), 9 July 2024 18:26
I would say no, because the updated wording includes a clause prohibiting cycling it via the rulebook ability, which is the successor to the Border Keep ability.
A player, 9 July 2024 18:33
I'd say BK would.
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 9 July 2024 18:45 · in reply
No, you read that wrong. Cycle and BK can both hit Events. The clause is against normal end-of-turn discarding in the Dynasty phase. So, a player , a player is correct.
saaam (not official), 9 July 2024 19:45
Hunh. Okay.
saaam (not official), 9 July 2024 19:46
So the spirit of the card is to punish the user of Yokuni Sensei a little bit, and it's even been re-worded to keep that going. I don't recall if back in the day you were allowed to use a discard effect to get rid of it, like Augury.
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 9 July 2024 19:48 · in reply
They had to issue contemporary errata to make it work right even. I don't have it handy to quote, but basically the gumming up aspect is not clear on the printed card, because people could always normally discard things they didn't want anymore in their dyn phase.
additional Question about Yokuni Sensei if it is an Ivory/20F/or even in future Onyx Event that have an Open action to resolve, or to be put into play:
1) Will it be taken back to it's province ( like sth like Death of the Mantis Clan)? ANd will it be "in effect" (meaning if DotMC will affect game when its owner will desrtoy province) //i take example of DotMC cause it is just around and wasn't having another example for that without searching)
2) If on event is an Open/Dynasty/Battle/Engage action, if its owner will not resolve it, he/she can discard the event in Discard Dynasty Rulebook ability?
3)IF it was event that triggered in event phase, or was triggered as an Open action (so it was used) You still can BK cycle it into Your deck?
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 10 July 2024 16:14 · in reply
1. No. Yokuni Sensei has no power over Events that put themselves into play, unfortunately. 2. Yes, he can discard an unused one. Yokuni Sensei's effects only trigger when the Event is about to be discarded through resolving or its action being taken. 3. Yes. Unfortunate side effect being that players could combo this to resolve an Event twice that shouldn't, but that's just the randomness of full Legacy play.

I would be interested to participate in one of the upcoming retro gold or diamond tournaments, but i need a brief update on the rulings, as i started playing L5R with ShE. What are differences between ShE and GE or DE? I did not study the rulebooks so far 😅. If its too complicated to explain, i will read the rulebooks and will ask specific questions afterwards 😉...
A player, 11 July 2024 10:17
It's best to check the rulebooks yourself, especially since there are some differences between the two, but the big things are:
- Events (and Regions) resolve during the Events Phase, which is a phase just after the start of your turn and your Action Phase - Open actions can be taken as Battle actions unless the card says otherwise - During duels, you only focus from your hand, and the only restriction (as far as I can tell) is how many cards are in your hand.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 11 July 2024 10:55
As like in every edition before Ivory theres no gold pooling and theres clan discount (personalities from your clan cost 2 less gold but you may buy them for full to proclaim).

Also worth noting that nothing prevents you from bowing a (straightened) spell multiple times for other effects that have a cost “Bow a spell:” etc!

Also, old Spells didn't specify that, so check the modern wording, because it's usually been updated to say "any number of times per turn" in the Oracle rewording.

Because of this Rule about keywords, (20F CR, pg 16): "A card either has a given keyword or it does not. Effects that grant a keyword to a card that already has it do not give it an extra copy of the keyword, and do not protect that card against a future effect that would remove that keyword." Gaining Experience would simply fail to give the Personality "Tactician" because they already have it from Akodo Sensei.

Right. Continuous traits can't overcome any/all removal by "re"-applying constantly. They apply when their conditions are met, and stop applying when they're not, but they can be "turned off" by other effects applied in between, too.

There is an additional Rule that only Shugenja can cast Spells, though. So, their abilities will sit idle, but at least the traits will still be active... and, as Marcus said implicitly, they won't "fall off" the guy either. 🙂
True. Although, if the trait says "This shugenja", and this Personality is no longer a shugenja, does it still apply the effect of the trait?
A player, 16 July 2024 21:20
I was just thinking about this one:
A player, 16 July 2024 21:21
If the ex-Shugenja has Thunder, does he still have +1C?
A player, 16 July 2024 21:27
Also, all this being said, how would a Personality lose the "Shugenja" keyword? Starting with 20F, it's no longer a boldfaced keyword, so unless you're playing a retro format where it is and there's cards that remove boldface keywords, I'm not sure how that edge case would happen?
A player, 16 July 2024 21:33
for OBH (relying on the Oracle text) you’ve got this 😂
[attachment: image0.jpg]
A player, 16 July 2024 21:34
(Oracle text reads: “all keywords”)
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 16 July 2024 21:34
and a player: Also, by logical extension of this Rule:
"Once a card or other game element is identifed by a keyword in a trait or action’s text (such as, “Bow one of your Samurai”) further references to that keyword within that trait or action are meant to only identify the particular game element clearly (such as, “Your Samurai gains +2F”). Specifically, if the Samurai somehow loses the Samurai keyword between the first and second references, the second effect still applies."
I would say that once a continuous trait has "identified" a Personality for its continuous effect, losing that referential keyword wouldn't inherently end the effect, unless it is specifically dependent on them having the keyword, such ones with explicit "while" or "if" language.
A player, 16 July 2024 21:39
So, in the case of "A Dragon's Favor", if the Personality loses Shugenja, the trait would still apply as long as they still have Thunder, although the battle action would not be usable (in the case of Wanderers Revealed, considering Oracle text, both Shugenja and Thunder keywords would be lost, therefore deactivating the trait)
(not a question, just stating the application of the rules with a cited example card)
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 16 July 2024 21:40
Sidebar: The reason for the Oracle text of Wanderers Revealed is, prior to Samurai Edition, keywords were called "boldface traits".
A player, 16 July 2024 21:43
oooop maybe that wasn’t a good example card to choose 😂😂😂, but I think I get the principle now!
A player, 16 July 2024 21:54
As I’m thinking about this kind of situation, I feel like it’s most likely that you have a character with a copy ability (like Genmyo or Fukuzo) that copies Shugenja, equips a spell, and either the ability wears off (Genmyo) or they use the ability and it replaces the other keywords, etc.

Does O-Ushi sensei protect against Kolat Assassin/Master? Say, if my opponent target someone like Hiruma Nikaru who is 7F.
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 19 July 2024 01:12 · in reply
I would say "no". I can't find any contemporary Rulings, if you're asking for specific interactions in Jade simulation. However, the way O-Ushi is worded, and the way Assassin and Master are worded (both Oracle wording and as-printed), O-Ushi's text allows for a different stat than Chi to be checked for a Personality that was already legally targeted and then the effects check its Chi. But Master and Assassin's Chi stipulations are conditions for targeting at all, so she couldn't "stop" or "redirect" those, because they would happen before she allows for "substitution". If you follow my logic?

Question about Moto Naleesh (for some reason I can't post images here, hmm). I want to make sure I am parsing cards correctly. "Battle: Target an enemy unit: Naleesh overruns it. Bow it. Destroy all cards in it without attachments and without Cavalry." As I understand it, this means that for a card to be destroyed it must both lack attachments and Cavalry? If Naleesh targets an infantry Personality with attachments, the attachment will be destroyed, but the Personality will survive?

Sounds about right

was reading the ShE update on Tatewaki and thought of a kind of edge case situation: since this says "if you have already Proclaimed once this turn", what if a Crane clan player recruits a Personality and proclaims them, then recruits Tatewaki and proclaims him, then recruits another Tatewaki? Would they be able to proclaim them, or does the "once" limit the effect?

@kempy_nezumi I'm honestly a bit torn on this one. Can you please scrape your Archives to see if there's a precedential ruling on Regal Furisode from Ivory Ed?
A player, 19 July 2024 15:12
I feel like I've heard of precedent on that before, where it only gives you one extra [insert action here] but for the life of me I can't remember what it was that did that
A player, 19 July 2024 15:26
here’s a similar ability from earlier, but with very different ability templating?

kempy_nezumi (not official), 19 July 2024 16:17 · in reply
I will. But not earlier than end of next week.
A player, 19 July 2024 17:35
We might need a ruling sooner than that, unfortunately- as there are two crane decks in a current Top 4
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 19 July 2024 17:38
Well, for now then, go with the assumption that the "once" limits the exception, and accept my apologies if we later find Rulings on Furisode and/or Yusugi that are contradictory.
A player, 20 July 2024 20:05
So completely off the wall, "why would this ever be relevant question." Created cards (any edition, but this is specific to Lotus) are treated as the appropriate card type. What, when otherwise not referenced, is the default value of a created Fate card? Dash (-) ? 0?
A player, 20 July 2024 20:06
For a specific example, what would the FV of Tamorii Futaba's Ring be?
Jeff Williamson (rules official), 20 July 2024 20:24
When otherwise not specified, values on created cards default to 0
A player, 20 July 2024 21:33
Now I’m curious at the “when might this ever be relevant” level: are there abilities that base targeting of Fate cards in-play on the basis of their FV?
A player, 20 July 2024 21:36
I can't name any off the top of my head, but I feel like there are cards that target based on the FV of attachments. "destroy it if its even" sort of things
A player, 20 July 2024 21:37
Completely irrelevant for Tamorii Futaba, who just makes a blank Ring, but still
A player, 21 July 2024 02:49
Olyah sensei- Counts as a pearl strategy does not mean it is counted as a fate card when counting for Void ring, despite normal pearl strategies counting, correct?

A player, 22 July 2024 00:32
I don’t know what means exactly. Where does the card “go” so that when a Battle occurs, I can use the Battle action
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 22 July 2024 00:35 · in reply
The Comprehensive Rules are a bit overly technical. The "entering play area" is just a temporary place cards go before they actually enter play in case anything weird happens in that step. Casually speaking, ignore that; Celestials flip up, then enter play in your Home like Holdings.
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 22 July 2024 00:37
And technically, the top bit doesn't happen until after it fully enters play. But again, for most intents and purposes, that would be immediately after it flips up in your Province.
A player, 22 July 2024 00:42
Okay
A player, 22 July 2024 00:42
So then, it sits there until I use its battle action after which point I discard it?
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 22 July 2024 00:44 · in reply
Yep, or until another Celestial shows up in one of your Provinces, in which case the new one kicks the old one out of play.
A player, 22 July 2024 00:44
the Celestials in EE have more “long term” effects cf to this one — like the Mantis one gives you a benefit each battle (!!!) and so on, and then they all have an ability that costs their discard

since effects resolve in order, before... so assuming your Follower is Courage, if the Fear does bow the target, it also hands out a Force penalty afterwards; if the Fear is too weak to bow the target (Fear 3 vs. 5 Force, for example), the target at least receives a Force penalty

Question about actions on regions, especially in OBH: can regions (and fortifications, I suppose), use their battle abilities at battles at locations other than the region's? This used to be a rule when I first started playing, but I can find no reference to that in Emperor / Ivory / 20F, and I'm not sure if I'm reading Presence & Relevance correctly
[attachment: printing_5420_1_select.png]
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 23 July 2024 13:59 · in reply
There is no Rule of Relevance in OBH. In it and the main Rules since Samurai Edition, it was replaced by Rule of Location, but that only governs cards in units. There are no Regions in Ivory/20F Rules at all, but Fortifications do have their own stipulation separate from Presence and Location that they must be at the current battlefield to use their abilities. I'd look and see if OBH Rules has a similar stipulation for Regions.
A player, 23 July 2024 14:04
The main OBH Ruleset doesn't mention Regions at all.
A player, 23 July 2024 14:05
It seems as if in OBH you can use any Region in any Battle. I wonder if this is intentional, or an oversight.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 July 2024 14:29
in OBH if theres no rule about something specific in OBH or 20F ruleset you follow Emperor. So Regions in OBH works like in Emperor.
A player, 23 July 2024 14:38
So "To legally perform a Battle action (see p.62), the performing card must be at the current battlefield." covers off Regions? The OBH rules don't cover regions as performing cards, so I'm still a little confused.
A player, 23 July 2024 14:39
To be clear: I accept and it should make sense that Regions only work at battles at that province, but it doesn't seem to actually explicitly outline that anywhere.

i edited my post about performing as i wrote it wrong. Actions on Regions may be performed but arent performed if action doesnt require it. Ijust wanted to say that ability on Region may be played at any battlefield but if action from it is still performed (by Personality or Follower) such Personality and Follower must satisfy RoL/RoP
kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 July 2024 18:59 · in reply
Imho. You announce Recruit, you target a Perspnality in Province and you are going to pay a cost. If you start with bowing Stronghold to prpduce gold theres a window for Reaction from KB. Gold production from SH is negated but Stronghold got bowed. You may keep producing gold from other holdings as KB negates only one source of gold frpm Stronghold. I think it works this way.
A player, 23 July 2024 19:03
That sounds like the intent yes. It also sounds like what the card does according to Oracle.
A player, 23 July 2024 19:05
OK thanks, that makes sense and how I think it should work.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 July 2024 19:09
Also its worth to.mention that bowing a Holding or Stronghold to produce a gold isnt action so it doesnt follow once per turn rule. If you have a way to straighten Stronghold or Holding you may bow them any number of times per turn to produce gold.
A player, 23 July 2024 19:11
I have a similar question about Recruit, but I’m looking at Emperor Arc rules (you’ll see why I need to specify shortly), not OBH or beyond:
Let’s say my opponent used Yasuki Tsujiken and Scars of War on my Holding: If I try to Recruit a personality whose Honor Requirement I would no longer qualify after bowing the Holding for gold, do I have to pay the penalty too? (This is kind of a timing question: does the gold production “skip timing requirements” permitting me to pay for the action but then the consequences of the bowing resolve?)
Yeah, but can you make the choice to stop since your opponent played KB? If I have more gold to pay, but I would rather buy a different personality instead for example. Or am I "forced" to go through with recruiting my original target.
Right, my response above is kinda that question as well.

I don't think the Ivory/20F CR accounts for the possibility of interrupted/countered payments; they were basically a Design space that the game was intentionally avoiding at that point. The Emperor CR that Kempy has in his dropbox may have answers about that?
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 23 July 2024 19:21
Similar answer for Ian about HRs; I could look in the Ivory/20F CR about when exactly HR is checked in the Recruit process, but if he wants to know about EE specifically, I'd look in that other, older CR (and I don't wanna right now 😛 ).
I had never attempted to do that because I though you could use a holding to generate gold only once per turn

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 23 July 2024 19:30 · in reply
Well, what you learned doesn't change if it's fixed. It still makes 4 Gold; just the Tireless ability Gold is supposed to be much narrower in scope of use.
A player, 23 July 2024 19:31
But you're talking about a format where people can buy a turn 2 shadow dragon or a turn 15/15 kami for 0 gold on Turn 1
It's just other players getting hard coded at 4 flips for production on one of their decks. But someone else managing double or triple that is a bit strong.
It's just a bad rabbit hole to go down into. I think we should limit or prevent "infinite combos", the truly degenerate stuff, for the integrity of the format, but to ban cards we don't like or think is too strong is something I'm NOT a fan of in powerful eternal formats like this.
Where do you start and stop?
There's no way to please everyone and it might just make people leave the format.

Question about Kuroiban Compound. If the Ninja permanently gains an ability, will this ability still be present even if KC reverted to a holding and you turn it into a Ninja again?
Guys, before the game starts, can I put all the cards in my provinces back to the top of the Dynasty deck and then shuffle it several times before taking four new cards to fill my provinces or that would be against some rule? I'm referring when playing using Sun and Moon.
A player, 24 July 2024 15:22
I mean....technically if you have not peeked at them then it would be no different than a manual shuffle, but why? the platform automatically shuffles for you
I am testing a new deck with 17 personalities and 20 holdings, so I began 30 new games in "Play Solo" mode and in more than 75% of the games I began with 3 or more personalities in my provinces... and in almost half of those games, I got 2 or less holdings after cycling those 3-4 initial personalities
A player, 24 July 2024 15:25
In short... I don't like at all how the client shuffles the deck at the beginning
A player, 24 July 2024 15:28
yeah that seems odd. I'll DM you some troubleshooting tips as that falls outside Rules, I think there may be something else going on there.
Rules wise, as an opponent, I would be initially skeptical because peeking at a face down card does not register in Verbose Logging. Your reason is valid, but it opens up an avenue of cheating
I see, and I understand your point, that's why I wanted to bring that scenario here. My next option would be to reduce the number of personalities perhaps down to 16 or 15 with 21 or 22 holdings. Maybe that improves the consistency of the shuffles
I think I'm more confused after reading that. Can you explain please? Lol

Attachments rules question: how do you transfer attachments? Are there some that are easier to move than others (yes Items, no Spells?), or whatnot? Does it cost anything, or does it take a Limited action? I remember this being something that was possible but I couldn’t find it in the Emperor Rulebook (and if there’s differences between Emperor vs Ivory+ please let me know too!!)
A player, 25 July 2024 00:58
That was something unique to the Clan Wars arc. You could bow 2 personalities to transfer an attachment from one to the other. I don't think this player ability was kept later on in the game.
A player, 25 July 2024 01:05
Darn, that probably explains why I couldn’t find explanations of how it worked (other than the general “if a card says ‘transfer’ it means…”)

A player, 25 July 2024 02:23
Yep. However! There is a holding in Onyx that lets you. It doesn't help for OBH or Emperor though
It was legal up through Lotus Edition actually. I played against someone in the lotus tournament who made very explicit use of that ability to copy force into other personalities and then pump their other ones. By then, you didn't have to bow the personalities, just the item.
They removed it in Samurai edition.

My understanding is that it is a bonus to the weapon but this doesn't count as a bonus to the personality because it is still a modifier to the personality. So if there is some card that can cancel a bonus to an item itself then it could be cancelled but it could not be cancelled by cards that cancel bonuses to a personality because it is still a modifier to the personality not a bonus. but I need some rules guys to check it as I heard that it was already discoussed and its the other way around and I am kind of suprised...

So to answer your question about 2FV, this would not be a bonus even to the weapon because it is starting at 2 already. But if you had a 4 FV card then this would be a bonus of +2F to the weapon. Hmm well I haven't heard the discussion so we will have to wait and see if someone can enlighten us!
A player, 28 July 2024 21:07
Ishiken as I already told i played it like that as You are saying
A player, 28 July 2024 21:08
but heeding words that i just heard 4FV card would give it +4 Force tus BoT exp wyould have 6Force then
A player, 28 July 2024 21:09
Wow, it would then be probably the best item in ShE, if it was not already. Cost to force ratio is already so good.
A player, 28 July 2024 21:10
I think the same...

When you set a value on a card, you give the card a bonus or penalty equal to the difference

Ishiken's answers are correct. Whoever told you this is incorrect or you misunderstood them.
A player, 28 July 2024 21:36
I misunderstood him
A player, 28 July 2024 21:36
late evening tired brain, I think, because I tried explaining it over voice the way Ishiken answered (which led to this)
A player, 28 July 2024 21:36
we were talking afer his match and i just was tired enought that i understood he showed 2fv card not 4fv
A player, 28 July 2024 21:36
I may also have had late evening tired brain affecting my explanation thereof on voice
A player, 28 July 2024 21:49
So, if the card the opponent shows has 2 FV, the weapon doesn't get a bonus, right? since its initial modifier wouldn't be modified
A player, 28 July 2024 21:54
Yup. If it's 1FV, the weapon even gets a -1F penalty to its modifier
A player, 28 July 2024 21:59
I see, got it

Under Legacy rules, will Serpent Tunnel's bonus persist even if the terrain is destroyed?

This trait provides bonus only when it's in play.

Can Akodo Eirasu die in one battlefield then come back at another battlefield within the same Attack Phase?
A player, 31 July 2024 15:13
As long as he did not die during battle resolution and you have presence at the new battlefield
A player, 31 July 2024 15:19
Wait, does the card have memory when it dies?
A player, 31 July 2024 15:21
(Would the newly-recruited Eirasu “know” that it died in battle resolution previously such that the “only one battle” restriction applies to him?)
kempy_nezumi (not official), 31 July 2024 15:55
Card has memory unless its both: out of play and facedown.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 31 July 2024 15:57
So face up cards in discards have their memory until end of turn. Card that goes to hand or is shuffled back in deck loses its memory.
Eirasu doesn’t care how he died. You could bring him back at another battlefield if he died at resolution earlier Edit: looking further, with respect to the only one battle rule, that would apply if you were attacking so resolution would matter. There’s no problem with multiple defensive battles.
