just want to confirm if DPS' 2G discount will not apply to WotSR's Ninja Open cost. thanks.
The current Oracle text clarifies that it does apply: "You pay 2 less Gold for your non-Personality Ninja cards and your Ninja Strategy actions. You do not lose Honor from other players' cards' effects nor from your Ninja cards; this is not negation. Absent Repeatable Tireless Battle: Even if you cannot take actions during the current battle, if the current army attacking your Province has 9 or less total Chi, move all its units home, and bow them as they move."

Or, actually, maybe it explicitly avoids it.

I'm not sure how Events like that work in EE/IvE, because of them now entering and staying in play and so on.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 21 September 2022 05:23 · in reply
In EE Events works like in any other edition. In IvE Events dont resolve after flipping up as there no Events Phase. Just you may announce ability from face-up Event in your Province depending on the phase as there are Events with Limited, Open, Battle, Engage and Interrupt abilities. Then this Event is discarded. Some Events have just "Open: Put this Event into play" instead.

There are even some Events that you can play during Dynasty phase as eg this reprint that tries to keep its original version.

I deleted my previous answer. I missed that DPoS reduced cost of card, not ability. So no, there's no discount for Ninja Ability from War of the Spirit Realm
saaam (not official), 21 September 2022 06:35
Ayup, that's exactly what I fell for too.
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 12:23
Hm.
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 12:24
I'm not sure why it says, "and your Ninja Strategy actions."
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 12:25
Was DPoS originally ruled to apply to actions taken from Ninja Action cards?
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 12:25
'Cos I'm pretty sure Action cards never "entered play"
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 12:27
(Except for Terrains, and other Action cards that explicitly entered play, eg Formations and Kata - but they came along much later)
I think originally anything coming out of your hand was entering play
A player, 21 September 2022 13:28
Not just stuff that stayed on the board
A player, 21 September 2022 13:28
It did not enter play if you discarded it
A player, 21 September 2022 13:30
The rules were a lot simpler until gold or post gold or so.
saaam (not official), 21 September 2022 14:50
It even worked for variable cost cards, like Night of a Thousand Fires.
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 14:56
Then it should work for Events, too.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 21 September 2022 17:20
I'm just looking through Jade rulebook, and playing cards was about "bringing" them in play. there's nothing about "entering play".

Yep
kempy_nezumi (not official), 21 September 2022 17:29
Btw why there's 1998 on this Stronghold, The Dark Journey Home was released in feb 1999
kempy_nezumi (not official), 21 September 2022 17:30
maybe there's something about Dark Path in Pearl rulebook. I don't have any to check
A player, 21 September 2022 17:44
They probably finalized the files for the printer in like December or something
A player, 21 September 2022 17:45
Double check the dates on the other djh cards
Alex Jones (rules official), 21 September 2022 21:11
Is there a section that describes each of the card types?
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 22 September 2022 13:44
@kempy_nezumi a player @Alex Jones The Oracle wording is from the SotE story-backed MRP. That one doesn't say "enter play"; it says: "Non-Personality Ninja cards cost 2 less Gold for you", so it also applied to the "cost" of Ninja Strategies, which at the time was not a separate cost of the "ability" on them but considered a cost of the card itself, I do believe.

Hi! can you clarify me a Celestial edition case?: can I use chugo seido and redirect the action of destruction to Daidoji kagami ? .he have a fix text that says: negate kamagi destruction from others players card effects" Is this legal? my first toughs are is not legal , but maybe Im overthinking it.
If he is present at that battle, and the action could have legally targeted him in the first place, then it's legal.
saaam (not official), 29 September 2022 02:31
He doesn't prevent targeting, he just negates destruction.
kempy_nezumi (not official), 29 September 2022 15:13 · in reply
Chugo Seido works also at home. Just a Personality to redirect must be at same location (home or battle).

Thank you guys! Very clear.

Hello. Just seeking clarification on the following: 1. Kakita and new focusing rules: Do all of the focused cards have to come from either my hand or the top of my deck or can I split (2 hand-1 deck, 1 hand-2 deck)? 2. How does The Shadow's Claw interact with Kakita's trait, if at all? 3. How do you resolve multiple copies of The Shadow's Claw? Do you resolve them simultaneously or successively? Thanks.
Brook Cunningham (rules official), 30 September 2022 01:12
1. I would imagine that the 3 cards could come from anywhere a normal focus could come from, depending on the ruleset you're playing under, and if there are multiple potential locations, it can come from any of them in any combination. 2. Kakita only gets to focus once. If you use The Shadow's Claw to replace that focus with its effects "instead", then you don't get his special chance to focus with 3 cards nor any other chance to focus. 3. Multiple copies of The Shadow's Claw can't be played simultaneously. You have to play any Reactions to a trigger sequentially in turn. Also, if you try to React to the same focusing time with multiples, their effects would just continually replace each other ("instead"), not multiply.
