thanks guys, appreciated

I'll let the Chicago PT commentary on Advance Warning when Design was deciding whether to take action on it speak for itself:

Advance Warning: Of all of the Ivory1 cards, our group as a whole feels that this one is the single most environment-deforming card out there. There are very few answers to province strength manipulation (even when you compare the relatively few answers to force boost/penalty), and a military deck that does not run Advance Warning up against a deck that does run it is at an inherent disadvantage, due to one deck needing fewer resources to take a province and having a key unit at home unbowed, or in the case where a single defender runs away to pump the province strength by 3 or more, making the province-trading equation lopsided. It makes the matchup against control decks more problematic, as traditional answers (Encircled Terrain, etc.) tend not to work in the face of it, particularly with the move-in available (especially Back to the Front). It is almost an autoinclude for military decks -- we haven't put it in every build, but we feel strongly that it could improve several of them. Its ability is not worded in a balanced way; if the movement is stopped, the Scout unit still straightens, and the province strength is still manipulated. We want to recommend that this card be under consideration for banning currently, as it skews the environment militarily even prior to Ivory2, and it has no good answers.

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 1 August 2023 16:19

(Advance Warning was 2nd wave ban alongside Cav Escort)

A player, 1 August 2023 16:27

It was certainly a problem in combination with the number of Scouts with solid bow actions in the format. Attack, bow to RA someone in the face, eject to defend later, nerf PS on your way out. In some editions, you'd laugh at that, but in Ivory, that was too many good things in the same bucket.

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 1 August 2023 16:28

and the fact that nothing that negated parts of the action affected any other part

A player, 1 August 2023 16:28

Right, that.

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 1 August 2023 16:28

really terribly worded for the whole Ivory change to actions

A player, 1 August 2023 16:28

Badly needed some "If it moved..."

kempy_nezumi (not official), 1 August 2023 16:29

It's just wrongly transcripted from Emperor version

kempy_nezumi (not official), 1 August 2023 16:30

as text before colons was a cost

A player, 1 August 2023 16:30

That one's a lot less of a problem. Requires a Scout, for one, so doesn't let non-Scout decks eject bowed dudes for PS hits. AND it's correctly chained together.

kempy_nezumi (not official), 1 August 2023 16:32

Similiar problem with Akagi Sensei (but in other way) - a "scout" Sensei that just worked with any Personality

A player, 1 August 2023 16:33

Exactly

A player, 1 August 2023 16:33

And it's not like Ivory didn't push Scout pretty hard even without Advance Warning

A player, 3 August 2023 13:13

https://paste2.org/zXPMaEzf I'd like to get feedback on my IvE (not 20F) deck, please.

posting this here, too...

A player, 16 August 2023 20:09

Hello all, I'm getting back into the game. I played mainly in CE and EE arcs. I have most promos but there are definitely some gaps. Does anyone know if there were non-foil versions of the 2013 Winter Pack cards? (ex: Yozo's Inspiration, Oracle of the Void Exp, Imminent Victory) I prefer to have non-foil versions of cards if possible. Thanks for your help.

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 16 August 2023 21:33 · in reply

there were; these were promos for various store-level events in their non-foil forms and aggregated in the 2013 Winter Pack as foil versions

A player, 17 August 2023 00:43

I would love to trade for some. Doc, do you have any?

A player, 17 August 2023 01:01

I am looking for non-foil versions of these cards: 3x A Great Victory 1x Frost Dragon Festival 1x Inari's Festival 1x Yozo's Inspiration 3x Family Dojo 1x Oracle of the Void Experienced 1x The Amethyst Court 1x The Emerald Dojo 1x The Ivory Dojo 1x The Jade Temple 1x The Obsidian Dueling Grounds 1x The Onyx Dueling Circle 1x The Ruby Dojo 1x The Topaz Dojo 1x The Turquoise Court 3x Family Sensei 3x Lantern of Revelation 3x Summon Fushicho 3x Imminent Victory 1x Daigostu Kanpeki, The Shadow Emperor

A player, 17 August 2023 01:02

Anyone have extras of any of these?

saaam (not official), 17 August 2023 01:03

Checked the IAB?

A player, 17 August 2023 02:21

trying to trade first

A player, 17 August 2023 02:29

I'll consider barter offers for board games I don't have on iab cards too.

talking about fact that proxy stuf doesnt work in Sun and Moon anymore (as it worked in the past), i am curious if redirecting from old oracle works correctly. i found old post when i was linking to old oracle - links doent work.

http://www.chikan.pl/index.php?topic=9090.msg122047#msg122047

Same eg in Akodo War College

https://akodowarcollege.wordpress.com/2019/02/27/2002-european-championships-surprise-of-the-crane/

[2002 European Championships – Surprise of the Crane] [SnM - Changing the Game - Emperor]
A player, 18 August 2023 13:28

technically SnM requests don't redirect, they pass through to the old server.

A player, 18 August 2023 13:36

ahh... looks like something might have broken on the redirect from http to https though when I put full certs on everything

A player, 18 August 2023 13:39

fixed that

A player, 18 August 2023 13:40

someone test SnM to see if that helped?

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 13:51

i will check

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 14:05

browser displays this in case of both links above

A player, 18 August 2023 14:54

incognito? might be cached

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 15:06

incognito links from forum works like this one http://imperialassembly.com/oracle/#cardid=8094,#hashid=65b8175b628842c78b6bbf141e6c16c1,#cardcount=0

but links from akodo war college no (error above) https://oracleofthevoid.com/oracle/#cardid=2134,#hashid=0fe7dc72b3553b30f3e27afbd64f463f,#cardcount=0

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 15:08

And proxy stuff from SnM still doesnt work

A player, 18 August 2023 15:15

hit SnM one more time

A player, 18 August 2023 15:17

looks like it worked from the logs.

A player, 18 August 2023 15:17

if so.. then SnM is too dumb to follow a redirect 😛

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 15:17

excellent its back!

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 15:18

it's just result of those proxy lines:

A player, 18 August 2023 15:19

SnM queries over http. A bit back I put https on ALL of the virtuals on that server. SnM sees the 301 redirect to https, but never attempts to load it.

A player, 18 August 2023 15:19

so I just disabled https for imperialassembly.com

kempy_nezumi (not official), 18 August 2023 15:21

👍

A player, 18 August 2023 15:23

the link issues, i'll have to dig into more... API gateway isn't passing them through as I'd expect.

A player, 18 August 2023 18:48

link issues should be fixed now as well.

A player, 18 August 2023 18:49

looks like I should spend some effort to write a redirection/translation layer for the old links

A player, 18 August 2023 18:49

those are hitting the old system... which I'd like to turn off and make myself sweat less in my office (heat is a real issue, lol)

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 18:55

Sigh. So many issues to fix with it. I really need to reach out to Drew and try to do a new build of it and at least modernize these things and the API calls, in lieu of having time to fix anything else.

A player, 18 August 2023 19:02

Someone was just saying they'd gotten the source from drew? I think the issue is there was potentially some licensed pieces.

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 19:03

Yeah. I need to either look into a cheap relicense to do a quick "fixup build" for the above, or spend some time ripping that out. It's an XML library. My idea is to shift the DB and break it into chunks that reside with the cardpack folders, so it's more extensible. And do a hash comparison between users to detect incompatibilities.

A player, 18 August 2023 19:04

I think the ideal would be to store json. Especially if you can just nab it directly from the oracle, and that's what it returns now.

A player, 18 August 2023 19:05

I can set up a routine that it can just gank the entire database in json and keep it up to date that way.

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 19:06

Yeah, exactly. That was my thinking. Shipping an embedded one is... annoying. Especially when it's static and people modify it.

A player, 18 August 2023 19:06

Yeah

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 20:05

Thinking out loud, I'd love to be able to ship the "printed text" as the default database, as well as a "MRP text", and on the latter there's a check every once in a while (time TBD) to see if there's an updated text for the set/whatever, and pull it down if so. Hopefully minimal hits on the API and bandwidth that way.

A player, 18 August 2023 21:20

might as well just ship it all. it's 12Mb before compressing, and it should compress extremely well. Probably just keep track of changes with some sort of serial or timestamp in the process, and it'll be extremely simple to manage.

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 21:21

The first thing that came to mind is to treat it like zone files. "What's my Serial at?!"

A player, 18 August 2023 21:26

Yep.

A player, 18 August 2023 21:27

Zone files or ldap diff style.

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 21:33

🧐

saaam (not official), 18 August 2023 22:31

Hmm. The more I think about this, the more I'd like to convert the internal DB to be LDIF-compatible. Maybe JSON-LDIF.

A player, 19 August 2023 16:22

hmm... not sure that it would lend itself well to ldif...

saaam (not official), 19 August 2023 17:20

Oh, not in the slightest. But it would horrify someone down the road.

kempy_nezumi (not official), 21 August 2023 10:49

Theres full 20F Arc tourney incoming in Sun and Moon. We have 9 registered player at the moment.

kempy_nezumi (not official), 21 August 2023 10:51

We play with The Blackest Storm

kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 August 2023 18:54

in latest PDF of Evil Portents there are 36 token cards (from premium slot) that cover all tokens from 20F (until EP). Including those that aren't in Oracle like Small Wall, Large Lion Follower, Bound Earth Spirit and many more. Is there possibility to add them to Oracle as it seems ive/20f proxies stopped at TNO.

kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 August 2023 18:56

If you don't have such scans i could extract those images (at least those completely missing in Oracle).

kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 August 2023 19:03

and even some of "old" token have better artworks in EP versions like this one:

kempy_nezumi (not official), 23 August 2023 19:04

comparing to TNO version from Oracle

I need to spend a little time fixing an issue with uploading images, then yeah, we can do that
