I'm curious, how popular was drafting? I know AEG tried it for a number of years, and in different ways.

i think, for the Most part, it went over well for Casual Play. I ran side events with it at most of the Kotei's i ran, that I Called Wild Draft ( With a few specific extra rules, and a focus on random fun ) . and I think Colson ran the Top cut of his yearly New years weekend event as draft several times.
tbh i think they made Ivory drafting really fun. I have never played an official event and we were never able to get a draft going in a store so it seems that the format has never really taken off. Still, we have drafted quite some times with my friends at home. Ivory is also great for cube and nowadays when most of my friends don't have constructed decks - when we play L5R, we cube.
Agree, IvE/20F draft was good. We drafted some in late 20F and after sale. Mostly with Thunderous Acclaim and Evil Portents.

dedicated "I only play this clan and I'm not happy unless i'm playing this clan" tended not to like it as much.
I imagine people who were also bad at making construction decisions on the fly weren't fans. raises hand 😛 However, I agree with the above anecdotes that at tournaments I attended, the Draft side events were never wanting for interest.
As nearly all Koteis i visited were 3 days long, a friday night drunken draft was standard procedure.
I much preferred Suicide to Draft.

Although not about dishonoured Personalities, I Believed in You... is amazing with the old rules.
Because a Breach and a couple of those can do some serious damage, considering you can take out Clan Champions with it for free.

As of Ivory, you can ignore HRs when bringing Personalities into play if your opponent has caused you an honour loss.
But that doesn't mean that I Believed in You stops working.
Oh nice. So it's a specific window to just bringing into play, not ongoing.

So... You just need to play a DPoS deck with no Ninja actions in it.
Or at least, none that target your opponent.

It involved, as these decks invariably do, Oni no Pekkle
I had some success with Brotherhood Enlightement as well, previously I was 30/30 crane and Phoenix, but unlike a lot of guys in my local I was fine with switching clans to play in tourneys.
I hate Tainting my deck, but I even had a SE Phoenix Honor build with Pekkle for a time.
It doesn't really work any more, as Pekkle's now first time per turn only.
I like Pekkle for getting to 10 honour it's a real risk though.
Remember when it seemed like they were going to make Supai a thing, but apparently forgot?
(Brian's deck was TDPoS + The Dark Moto Sensei, and involved making Pekkle a Ninja, using Of One Mind to copy Bayushi Hisa exp's ability to her, then reducing her chi to 0 so she dies, and putting her into the Bayushi Provinces from where you can bring her into play as your next action)
Gotta Ninja-fy Hisa too for that combo.

Haha, yeah that's a crazy combo! Gross! I liked my friends militant ninja the most. It was a very creative deck taking provinces on the sly and no need to rally cry

Your clan is Ninja, so you got Clan discount for them.

@kempy_nezumi might want to regrab these. My auto-deskew/auto-crop script was off on the cropping (negative numbers depending on if left/top vs right/bottom)

it looked like opening the original on a browser got some CSS that changed the presentation to half scale, but if you DL the image as a file it's the full size

Well the old stronghold can flat out pay 6 gold first turn. I used to run take the initiative, welcome home (honor is gold), and I'll try to remember some others.
I think I did tell the tale too because it's essentially another 1 koku with that stronghold
