@Brook Cunningham problem on the new wording on Oblivious Scout (here https://jlsumerlin.wixsite.com/onyx-lives--project/post/update-post-gencon-wrap-up-errata-and-what-s-next) From what I can see, if my opponent plays Overwhelmed, I cannot target my cards with Overwhelmed unless he's previously targetted or removed the scout

Oblivious now reads 'other players battle actions may not target your other cards'. It's still my opponent's action targetting my cards even though I'm doing the targetting, correct?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 1 December 2024 01:13

I can't remember how it might have been different before, but this is correct, and it seems in line with its general intent.

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 1 December 2024 01:14

I'm sick of this card. Nobody plays it except to exploit it. I'm just going to ban it

You mean scout i think?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 1 December 2024 01:16

So, is this even a "problem" as you said?

A player, 1 December 2024 01:16

basically you create a big guy with tons of attachments and it cannot be touched ...

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 1 December 2024 01:16

The Obs Scout protects you from the opponent's Overwhelmed. Isn't that intended? Also, should we take this out of the public channel?

A player, 1 December 2024 01:16

unless you kill the follower but if you only have actions to target personalities you are dead

A player, 1 December 2024 01:16

even overwhelmed gets unusable ...

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 1 December 2024 01:17

I didn't even realize this wasn't the public channel. 😛

I've considered playing it. It makes short lists for decks I build.

It's just the decks I end up playing are so amazingly tight that I have to make cuts I don't want to

I saw that for gencon onyx was disallowed for modern and legacy. Sounded like it was more about gencon than about the intention of thr design team here. Is the plan for modern to eventually include onyx? Will it drop samurai?

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:10

It is not our decision. The organizers of Modern, to my knowledge, do not consider our project to be something they wish to include in their events or organizations

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:10

For whatever reason they have, that was my understanding

A player, 3 December 2024 23:18

Well not to put too fine a point on it but that’s stupid and unfortunate

A player, 3 December 2024 23:19

I am loving the onyx stuff but I also wanna try and build more modern decks

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:19

Either way, it's not our call. They never reached out to us, and I was told that they had no interest in incoporating our project. Not sure about it beyond that

A player, 3 December 2024 23:20

Big deck and legacy tho are not controlled h that group are they?

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:21

No idea on that front.

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:30

Ah, @Brook Cunningham clarified for me that it was the OBH Legacy people that do not want to incorporate our project

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:30

The Modern thing seems to have been an organizational issue more than anything ele

A player, 3 December 2024 23:51

There is nobody currently managing the Modern Format so nobody can make the decision.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 3 December 2024 23:53 · in reply

The flipside of that being, if no one is managing it, than anyone can make the decision, for their own individual tournaments.

A player, 3 December 2024 23:55

That makes sense. I haven’t seen sparks on the Facebook group in ages. Last I heard from him he was torn on what to do with samurai when onyx appeared
