Hi folks, I just started looking through cards last night, so forgive me if these have been answered (I did search, but found nothing). 1. Is there an actual "Pearl Strategy" card, or do mentions of "Pearl Strategy" and "Pearl Strategies" only refer to the one strategy card with the Pearl keyword, Magnify? When a card like Jhara creates a Pearl Strategy, how is that denoted since there's not a card for it in SnM? 2. The Akasha seem to have a lot of Experienced and XP2 personalities that do not have the Unique keyword - is that intentional, and am I allowed to have multiple copies of, say, Shahadet XP3 or Balash XP2?

A player, 15 March 2024 17:24

Oh, and lastly, are there any repositories of Onyx decklists available? Tournament or just everyday lists?

A player, 15 March 2024 17:32

1) Strategies with the Pearl keyword 2) Yes, that's a new thing from Ivory Edition non-Unique Experienced Personalities.

A player, 15 March 2024 17:36 · in reply

Thanks. So am I correct that there's only the one Pearl strategy card right now? And what about the created Pearl Strategies?

A player, 15 March 2024 17:38

created Pearl Strategies are basically strategy token cards with the Pearl keyword

A player, 15 March 2024 17:39

as for decklists, each of the Onyx tournament channels in the SnM server has the top 4

A player, 15 March 2024 17:44 · in reply

I also have a server for l5r onyx and legacy stuff if you are interested

A player, 15 March 2024 17:59 · in reply

What kind of stuff is on the server? Like documents? Decklists?

A player, 15 March 2024 18:02

Decklist and theory crafting for each clan

A player, 15 March 2024 18:04 · in reply

I'm absolutely interested

A player, 15 March 2024 18:05

One other question - are people commonly fishing for Legacy holdings? Like, is that something most decks do, or very few?

A player, 15 March 2024 18:13

It is a common practice

A player, 15 March 2024 18:14 · in reply

ensuring decent gold on your early turns is a must and very important tech

A player, 15 March 2024 18:26 · in reply

I sent you a dm

A player, 28 March 2024 15:58

So currently the Mantis clan people are unaligned, once the stronghold is released will they officially cost +2 out of clan?

A player, 28 March 2024 15:58

lol

A player, 28 March 2024 16:02

I'm guessing not in the current tournament, and the currently printed as Unaligned Kitsune, Tsuruchi and Moshi personalities will stay Unaligned

A player, 28 March 2024 16:05

I mean after they are released

A player, 28 March 2024 16:05

the stronghold

A player, 28 March 2024 16:05

because at the moment they are unaligned

A player, 28 March 2024 16:05

lol

A player, 28 March 2024 16:06

yeah they will be having thix tax

A player, 28 March 2024 16:06

NOOOOOOoooooo

A player, 28 March 2024 16:06

fail

A player, 28 March 2024 16:06

lol

A player, 28 March 2024 16:07

;D

A player, 28 March 2024 16:07

what You was planing to do?

A player, 28 March 2024 16:07

keep playing mantis without tax... duh

A player, 28 March 2024 16:07

lol

A player, 28 March 2024 16:07

we all know they aren't a real clan anyway

A player, 28 March 2024 16:40

The Mantis become a playable Clan in ShE, so for the purposes of Onyx any Mantis bugged Personalities are still considered Unaligned. Any “Mantis” that are Unaligned stay that way

A player, 28 March 2024 16:43

oh

A player, 28 March 2024 16:44

You mean i still can play Yoritomo and Hiromi?

A player, 28 March 2024 16:44

and not pay /additional/ 2 gold even after this set goes live?

A player, 28 March 2024 16:45

In Onyx, yes. In ShE, they cycle out and aren’t legal anymore

A player, 28 March 2024 16:59

I am talking about the ones with the mantis clan not the ones that have no mantis clan printings. ala gthe Gusai, etc

A player, 28 March 2024 17:00 · in reply

i think You can acording what said a player

A player, 28 March 2024 17:22

That... makes no sense lol

A player, 28 March 2024 17:23 · in reply

in She its sure think

A player, 28 March 2024 17:26

The only mantis clan personalities are the ones with the mantis clan mon by the name.

A player, 28 March 2024 17:26

yeah and we mean thous!

A player, 28 March 2024 18:02

In Onyx, if they have a Mantis Clan mon, they cost what’s printed for everyone. In ShE, non-Mantis players pay +2G for Mantis Clan Personalities

A player, 28 March 2024 18:03

BOOOOOOOoooooo I want to continue playing mantis clan personalities for cheap without using mantis sh

A player, 28 March 2024 19:27

You mean you want to play Kitsune personalities, Nue 😉

A player, 28 March 2024 19:28

Kitsune personalities wouldn’t be counted in that.

A player, 28 March 2024 19:28

They’d still be unaligned.

A player, 28 March 2024 19:28

Most (not all) have the mantis mon

A player, 28 March 2024 19:29

The ones with the mantis mon aren’t white bugged.

A player, 28 March 2024 19:29

I get what you are saying

A player, 28 March 2024 19:29

I also think Nue wanted more zoo creatures for "cheap"

A player, 28 March 2024 20:10

lol, I mean... I absolutely do... but also with my current deck I am trying to do there was a juicy mantis preview that would really help out lol

A player, 28 March 2024 20:10

that makes paying action costs cheaper

A player, 28 March 2024 20:14

Namely...

A player, 28 March 2024 20:32

would be cool to have a holding that functions with getting extra gold production for action costs

A player, 29 March 2024 02:20

so, can Ejiro reduce the cost on a card that already has no cost?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 29 March 2024 08:34 · in reply

Nope.

A player, 29 March 2024 14:16 · in reply

lol dishonor meta GO lol

A player, 29 March 2024 14:18

wait wait wait... thats interesting.

If I play Consumed by Darkness, and react with Ejiro... do I or my opponent lose the honor?

A player, 29 March 2024 14:18

from his ability.

A player, 29 March 2024 14:21

the player who controls or is the target... its targeting the opponent's card in a province

A player, 29 March 2024 14:23

Or, if I betrayed from within, and target my opponent's personality, they lose an honor?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 29 March 2024 14:39 · in reply

If that's the only target, no loss to anyone; cards in Provinces aren't controlled.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 29 March 2024 14:40 · in reply

Yep. Dead guy and an Honor loss; insult to injury.

A player, 29 March 2024 14:43 · in reply

lol

A player, 31 March 2024 02:50

Question Regarding Reckless Zeal: is RESPONSE different from Interrupt?

A player, 31 March 2024 02:51

Yes. Response is played AFTER an ability is resolved, and Interrupt is played when an ability is announced.

A player, 31 March 2024 02:52

Okay, so in a sense, Response is an action?

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 31 March 2024 02:56

in what sense are you asking? Responses and Interrupts are actions, just like anything labelled Open, Dynasty, or Battle

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 31 March 2024 02:57

but neither Responses nor Interrupts can be Responded to or Interrupted

A player, 31 March 2024 03:07 · in reply

So a response is played in a window after the action being responded to is played?

Jeff Williamson (rules official), 31 March 2024 03:11

after that action has fully resolved, yes

A player, 31 March 2024 03:12

After the triggering condition, no?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 31 March 2024 03:17 · in reply

No, Responses don't "trigger" like Reactions or traits. Like Interrupts, you can Respond to any action, but the effects are dependent upon the action you're Responding to.

A player, 31 March 2024 03:19 · in reply

I mean that they are played following a triggering condition

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 31 March 2024 03:21 · in reply

Yes, that's what I took you to mean, and no, they aren't. They are played after the action to which they're Responding resolves. The "Response" window occurs for every non-Interrupt/non-Response just after it resolves, just as the Interrupt window occurs just before any such action resolves.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 31 March 2024 03:23

So, the Action Sequence is now: A. Announce, B. Pay Costs, C. Choose Targets, D. Play Interrupts, E. Resolve the action, F. Play Responses.

A player, 31 March 2024 03:51 · in reply

Thank you for this clarification.
