Hey, just curious... so, if I'm playing a Naga deck using the Eternal Well of the Akasha stronghold, what is my clan identifier?

I presume it's not merely "Naga" cards, right? That would include Moto Naleesh and Mirumoto Shikei, both are Loyal.

Clan identifiers in Ivory+ are determined by the clan mon in the corner of the card and watermark, right?

A player, 2 February 2024 20:57

Akasha

A player, 2 February 2024 20:57

Has the naga mon on the card

A player, 2 February 2024 21:34

Naga is essentially a Nonhuman descriptor in this case. Akasha is the Clan identifier

A player, 2 February 2024 21:39

thanks!

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:39 · in reply

Except for the ones that are human, like Naleesh and Shikei, the very ones that schlorg mentioned. 😛 But yeah, Clan Alignment is only determined by Mon in the title box, not any keywords.

A player, 2 February 2024 21:39

Sun & Moon doesn't seem to support that, but I was able to work it out.

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:40

This will become more relevant as things that are not necessarily Naga perhaps fall under the Akasha Clan umbrella in the future

A player, 2 February 2024 21:40

yeah, what's up with that actually? Do Naleesh and Shikei count as non-human?

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:40

They are human

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:41

Anything that isn't Nonhuman is implicitly human by default

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:41 · in reply

No. They are human, but also Naga. There is no implicit Nonhuman.

A player, 2 February 2024 21:41

okay... I didn't notice at first, but Naga cards do indicate they're nonhuman

A player, 2 February 2024 21:42

I was abotu to ask about that point, since Naga are non-human

A player, 2 February 2024 21:42

Shikei is quarter naga

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:43

The only implicit/default keywords any cards have are human and infantry. Anything else will be explicit.

A player, 2 February 2024 21:43

cool

Jeremy Sumerlin (rules official), 2 February 2024 21:44 · in reply

His legs are Naga. And one of his ears

"Mareshi! To ze kitchen!" -Mirumoto Kei

A player, 4 February 2024 05:21

They both have Naga ancestors, which is why they have the keyword. And fairly recent ones. Shikei’s grandmother and Naleesh’s mother. Although Naleesh’s mother is…weird. And this probably isn’t the place to dive into all that. But that’s why they have the keyword. There are a few other cards that have naga blood with the keyword.

Hi! Quick, probably bad question. I haven't played since Emperor, and i am really happy that this project is so alive! I was a bit confused with the Strongholds, by that i mean the 2 same name Strongholds for the clans. Is supposed to be a two faced card, or a choice?

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 16 February 2024 16:11 · in reply

2 faces. One if you go first, the other if you go second. It was introduced in Ivory.

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 16 February 2024 16:12

White border is the "going 2nd" side.

A player, 16 February 2024 16:12 · in reply

Oh so its the new version of the Bamboo harvesters and border keep stuff. Thanks for Clearing that up! So basically if i went second i get a more powerful one that can be flipped to be the regular one for a quick cash infusion?

A player, 16 February 2024 16:15

Yes

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 16 February 2024 16:15 · in reply

Correct. While the 2 sides was new with Ivory, the quick-cash option was new with Onyx. Also, Legacy Holdings returned and replaced Border/Bamboo.

A player, 16 February 2024 16:16

Thanks for the answers! This set looks awesome tbh, looks like i will have to learn sun and moon

Brook Cunningham (rules official), 16 February 2024 16:19 · in reply

Welcome! The Onyx stuff is currently mostly a release/continuation of things that were already in various states of readiness when L5R was sold in 2015. The later and continued releases are all new, but all designed by a lot of the same team who worked on it officially at that time.

A player, 16 February 2024 16:21 · in reply

I found the project around a week ago, can't stop deckbuilding, and i feel my excitement returning 😄

Jump on the sun and moon discord channel too! There is a LFG channel there.
