Your Rules for Saturday, January 8, 2005
The Shosuro Infiltrator says: "After the battle ends, remove the created Personality from the game, then return this card to play attached to its original Personality."
If the created personality has been destroyed and you are not then able to remove the created personality from the game, can you still reattach the Infiltrator to the original personality? Once the created personality has been destroyed it would be removed from the game already I assume since: "Tokens cannot be sent to your Fate hand, deck, or discard pile. [ZF, 4 October 2003; JA, October 2003]"
I seem to remember something about the then clause having some templated meaning as being a follow on effect which requires that the previous effect completes. Is that correct or am I getting confused here?
I think you are confused. There is no such rule, at least under Diamond Edition Rules. The only thing that works sort-of-like-that is moving a unit home bowed.
At any rate, if you can't perform an effect (in this case, removing a card from the game that is already removed from the game) it fails, but all other pending effects resolve on their own merit. The Infiltrator would still return to play.
Questiuon 2: OK a question more out of curiosity than any real practical use...
If Hida Ishi is in a battle and Bayushi Paneki XP2 is in play, can the Scorpion player use one of the Crab player's action cards like Test of Might to bow Ishi?
Ishi says: "Ishi may not be bowed by other players' card effects." But Paneki says: "Once per turn, during an attack, you may play a face-up card from another player's hand."
As far as I can see. The Scorpion player never actually owns or controls the action card that is producing the bow effect - it doesn't enter play and is played out of the Crab player's hand. Hence the only player that the card could conceivably belong to in anyway is the Crab player and Ishi would be then being bowed by his own player's card effect.
No player ever "controls" a "regular" Action card. They don't enter play. Ownership is irrelevant. "Another player's card effect," is not the same as, "another player's card's effect." The distinction is even clearer on Ishi because of the use of the plural form for "effects" but not "cards." The - effect - belongs to the player whose play created it, in this case Paneki's player took an Action that causes the effect. It is that player's effect. It is also a Card Effect.
This is also important when using an "all play" ability on a card like "Jester." The effects of Jester's action are Card Effects of Jester and the player who takes the Action that produces the effect.
It is the playing player's Card Effect, not the owner's Card Effect.
This is wording distinct from "an effect from cards other players own," like you see on Moto Ogedei.

That should cover everything for Saturday. If I missed as part of your Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
