couple questions
Well after a lot of playing last night my playgroup and I decided to ask a couple questions on some of the new WoL cards we got from the pre-release. Okay first, Doji Saori, can she bow and target herself to issue the unrefusable challenge? I don't think so personally as you have to be unbowed to issue a challenge.
It isn't that you have to be unbowed to challenge, but that you must be unbowed to perform an Action that produces a challenge. As long as Saori is unbowed when you go to perform the action, it is a valid play. That's how personalities with built in challenges with a bowing cost function and Shugenja can cast spells that require bowing.
Oh, and Saori targets something and THEN bows. Declare. Target. Pay. Resolve.
The other question involves Moto Latomu exp and his Reaction. If I have say 6 regions total in play, my opponent has none for the sake of this question, and they have attacked me at two different provinces, using the ability off the Khol wall can I produce a ranged attacked at any province I move into. Say they are attacking two of my provinces (left and right most), I switch around people from my leftmost and right most, do both get to do a ranged attack at each province or only the battle that's currently under way?
You can only shoot in the current battle. Ranged Attacks still must target "opposing" Personalities and anything that mentions "opposing" that can be played when there is a current battle MUST be played only at the current battle. (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page 81)
Chimamire vs. Chags
Chimamire no Oni hands out some -1 Chi loving to Moto Chagtai until his chi is 0.
Moto Chagtai now has 0 chi and has no penalties that will wear off at or before the end of the turn.
Does Chagtai die now or at the end of the turn?
This one gave me a headache the first time around, but I remember Jeff's clarification:
You only check for Chi Death with Chagatai nonexp. at the time when effects would expire at the end of his controller's turn - regardless of whether or not there are any penalties that would expire at that time.
dying/discarded after Gozoku lockdown
I kill that personality and then Feign Death. They'll come back into play bowed, but is the lockdown "forgotten" because they died?
Nothing is ever "forgotten" due to leaving play. Some effects are overridden by new effects. Some effects specifically have their duration end when a card leaves play (Show of Good Faith).
Also, lets say that the gozoku'd personality is discarded from play and then enters play again later (Jigoku Sensei followed by Musume Mura, for example). They'll enter play unbowed, but will the "cannot unbow" lockdown effect still be in place?
Yes.
weapon abillity
Can you still use a weapons abillity even if the personnality its attached to is bowed?
So long as the ability does not involve the Personality issuing a Challenge, and the Weapon isn't also a Spell while the Personality is a Shugenja (Diamond Edition Rulebook, page , sure you can.
Abilities on items are Performed by the Personality carrying them, but the ability itself is still played from the Item Card, not the Personality Card.
That should cover everything from Friday. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of your Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
