Your Rules for Friday, November 5, 2004
{Web} Bayushi Paneki Exp
If I test of might a 0 chi Chagatai, I can overconf him as soon as he focus right ? Since a Focus value is minimum 0.
You cannot. According to the archives, known maximum/minimum values don't matter either.
Quick silly question:
If a personality has a "minimum" chi value, with Aramasu's Blessing, that is higher than it's current value, than is their chi immediatly raised to that "minimum" value? Is this considered an increase/bonus
Yes, it is set to the minimum value. That's how minimums work. No, it is not considered to be a bonus.
Watch List/Errata for November
Effective December 1st, the first line of Kyuden Bayushi will read as:
You must have two different Winds.
(Thus, it will not be legal to reveal Gozoku Sensei with this Stronghold.)
There is no errata to Gozoku Sensei. It is being removed from the Watch List, effective immediately.
The Watch List was created to keep an eye on cards that were unduly influencing L5R's play environment. That covers more than whether a card or strategy is simply too strong. We do not feel Kyuden Bayushi and Gozoku Sensei form an unbeatable combination. "KGB" decks do not have an unacceptably high victory percentage in the overall field of competitive play. However, in watching the play environment it has become obvious that the Kyuden Bayushi/Gozoku Sensei deck is nonetheless harmful to L5R as a competitive game. It provides for an easily made, easily played denial-based deck that is frustrating to play against and sharply discourages card types and themes we are actively trying to promote in the design process. Finally, even at the highest levels of competition, its existence single- handedly restricts the variety of winning decks to an unacceptably small fraction of those that are otherwise possible.
Both Kyuden Bayushi and Gozoku Sensei have proven to be strong but not overly disruptive when used separately. The main reason we chose the errata we did is that it preserves the cards themselves and the other deck types that use them intact.
Combining range
I know this question is old. And may be quite silly. Just wanna clarify it with regards to Tsuruchi Renshi's ability. If he has a follower and there are no restrictions to his range, and since the rulebook says "A ranged attack acquires the traits of all of the ranged attacks comprising it," can I combine Renshi's and the follower's ranged attacks to target a peep with a follower if there's a terrain in play?
No. "The combined action's types must all be the same, and the cards must be able to make a ranged attack at that time and at the intended target."
The Followers can't make a ranged attack against the Personality with Followers, so their ranged attack is never eligible to combine with Renshi's, which they must do to GAIN the ability to target the Personality in the first place. That's a catch-22 when it comes to Combined RAs and Targeting.
And can Kekeisu who has a follower combine their range for a peep with a follower?
No, for the same reason as above.
That should cover everything for Friday, November 5, 2004 unrelated to Web of Lie. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of a Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
