Shinden Horiuchi + spell action canceled
A unicorn shungenja casts a spell without bowing, using the stronghold "once per turn" effect.
If Flee the darkness (or anything else) cancels the action, is the use of the stronghold counted anyway ? In other words, can the unicorn player use that effect again during the same turn ?
This one Jeff answered a long while ago, in the Rules for 26 Feb. 2004:
2) Suppose I am playing with Shinden Horiuchi as my Stronghold. If I cast a spell using the Stronghold's trait (by bowing an item), and the spell is >cancelled, does that count as my once per turn use of the trait (since the >action was cancelled, not paying its cost)?
No.
Bloodspeaker sanctum and playing with madness
Playing with madness removes all innate abilities from the caster.
If I cast it with my non-shugenja personality using bloodspeaker sanctum :
- Are his abilities are considered innate abilities while he's casting the kiho ?
While he's a Shugenja, his abilities are all Innate Abilities. While he's casting under the influence of Bloodspeaker Sanctum, he's a Shugenja. That means he's a Shugenja for the whole process of casting, all the way down to the moment after the last immediate effect of Playing With Madness has resolved.
So, if you use the Bloodspeaker Sanctum to cast Playing With Madness, the caster will lose all of his or her abilities.
- If yes, does he lose all his abilities permanently, or only during the time he's casting the kiho ?
Playing With Madness says, "permanently loses all current innate abilities."
That means you lose them for good.
That should cover everything from Sunday the 10th. If I missed your question that was unrelated to Dawn of the Empire, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of your Clear and Distinct subject line. I'll get back to you at the first opportunity.
