Your Rules for Sunday, August 29, 2004
Hida Ishi + Gozoku
May Hida Ishi be targeted with Gozoku Sensei? Thus making him unable tu unbow?
"Ishi may not be bowed by other players' card effects."
You can target him with Gozoku Sensei. It won't bow him. It will put a 6-gold Price on him straightening ever again until you next use the Favor (or a Favor substitute).
LAD + BC
Say I Sneak Attack, play Lotus at Dusk, then Brutal Confrontation. Does Lotus at Dusk prevent me from using the trait on Brutal Confrontation to take a free action on Brutal Confrontation, or can I use an action on Brutal Confrontation for free and follow up with the second action with Lotus at Dusk?
Brutal Confrontation doesn't have any such trait. It has one ability, "Battle: All players may take the following actions for the rest of the battle. You may take one such action immediately if your army has at least two units ..."
That's all part of the Action. It is an additional Action from an Action, something that Lotus at Dusk specifically prevents.
Playing Brutal Confrontation under Lotus at Dusk can't yield you an extra Action from Brutal Confrontation.
Stand or Run versus Right Hand movement negation
It is indeed on the Wrath of the Emperor Rules Sheet as well.
No issue here. Move along.

On Sun, Aug 29, 2004 at 07:17:11PM -0400, How about change it to Page 72, paragraph 2 of the Diamond Edition rulebook should read in part, "If a card is 'sent home bowed' and the movement is prevented or canceled, do not bow the card," not, "do not move the card."
This is written on (at least) the HC rulesheet:
Canceling Actions and Negating Effects [p. 72]
The exception should read, "if a card is 'sent home bowed' and the movement is prevented or negated, do not _bow_ the card".
It might be on the RoB rulesheet too; I don't have one here to check (the HC rulesheet is on the website).
Keeper of Earth Question
Keep of Earth says search your fate deck for a Ring of Earth, does that mean you can only go for Ring of Earth or can you also go for Dark Ring of Earth?
Both Ring of Earth and Dark Ring of Earth count as "Ring of Earth" cards, as per the Keyword Rule. The answer to, "Are you a Ring of Earth?" when posed to both of these cards is "yes."
RULES/LEGALITY: Kan'ok'tichek
Question: I have a DE Kan'ok'tichek Exp, but also the original Kan'ok'tichek (and T'chikchuks but I know they're too old). However, it seems Kan'ok'tichek (non-EXP) is only Gold legal. How is it that only the exp version of him is legal? Or is there an exception here?
Nothing about having the "Experienced X" Trait on a card makes any of the other Experience Levels of that card legal in the Diamond Environment. There are tons of Personalities with Experienced versions in Diamond that do not have their lesser-experienced versions bugged for Diamond - see also Doji Kurohito, Bayushi Sunetra, Matsu Nimuro, Hida Kuon, etc. If the Most Recent English Printed Version of - That Card - (not another card with the same name and a different Experienced Level) has the Diamond Bug, then the card is Diamond Legal. Otherwise, the card is not.
Kan'ok'tichek XP is legal in Diamond. Kan'ok'tichek nonexp is not.
Also, since I'm still getting into the newer cards, is there a card comparable to Superior Tactics? Why'd they take it out?
Deploy Scouts is the closest is terms of emulating both abilities. Running Engagement is probably the closest in pure movement. Control the Field is the closest in terms of 3-chi Terrain destruction.
I can see replacements for Rallying Cry (Spearhead) and Counterattack (Retribution), but there seems to be no substitute for Sup Tac. Any input?
There are no real replacements for any of those cards. Rallying Cry let you attack with any size of Army with no cost to your ability to defend due to bowing. Spearhead doesn't come close. Counterattack let you smash your entire army into the face of anyone foolish enough to attack you. Retribution doesn't come close. They were all removed because their effects were too powerful and environmentally deforming, near as I can tell.
Similar concepts, but it is kind of like comparing an apple to an apple tree.
That's everything not Dawn-related that I see for the 29th. If I missed your question, please repost it with the flag [RULES] as part of your clear and distinct Subject Line.
